I used a 00ish CV steely as a full-size spare when I went to 5 lugs.
IIRC, they have 4" BS, where my LSC turbines were closer to 5"
Lots of room inside for the PBR calipers I'm using on my Zephyr.
edit: Oh, I rocked the cop car look as the wheel choice for the entire time I had my 94 Caprice, but it was an old cap car

Does Vintage Racer have a picture of the 82 SSP Prototype? I would sure like to see it.
I am interested in some CV wheels for my '79 Zeph...so what years will work on it?
'79 Z7 w/sunroof, first car, 302, 5-speed, 8.8 Rear Disc
'68 Cougar 302 4v Auto
'84 Jeep Grand Wagoneer

'04 Volkswagen Golf 2.0
'07 Hyundai Entourage
I had some on the back of my LTD...

What size were the pre-85 SSP wheels and is there a number on them or anything that identifies them as an SSP wheel? Reason I ask is that I have a set of 14" steelies I picked up a few years back and I have always wondered what they were. I assumed they were like Pinto wheels or something. They were labeled "mustang" at the salvage yard but they look kind of skinny. I suppose they could have been off of a Mustang II, don't know. I was thinking the SSP wheels were wider but never really researched it.
'90 LX Sport 5.0\T5
'90 GT 331\T5
'90 Notchback 5.3LS\S480 Turbo\TH400
'79-'97 are the ROTM 15" steelies with dog dish caps
'98'-02XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX'03-'05XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX'06-present
'03-up CV wheels have a higher offset. The '03-'05 could be had in 7 or 12hole.
IIRC Ford had to recall the early version as it had a nasty habit of coming apart at speed I only found an image of the 7 hole.
Alternative, possibly Tacoma/Tundra steelies, and/or Magnum/Charger/300C steelies. Obviously verify clearance, offset, and register bore.
I'll stick with my black wheels and poverty caps. I may go to a 15" 5-lug wheel, but I think the caps will still work.
I'm having a set of new BFGoodrich 225/60-15 G-Force tires mounted on NOS 1986 SSP wheels tomorrow to go on my 34k original owner 1986 Mustang GT convertible. I have 4 NOS Escort chrome center caps (fronts will be mounted with 3/4" rubber spacers and 1-1/4" screws to fit over the front hub) to use or a set of 2 Argent NOS SSP center caps for the front and 2 painted to match non-chrome Escort caps for the rear. I have not decided which to use yet. I'll post some pictures next Thursday after I get the Argent painted Escort caps back from my painter (he had the NOS Argent cap scanned today and will have custom mixed paint to match next week). I think the Argent will look good with the charcoal gray trim, gray fabric roof, gray hood decal, and the new gray cloth Corbeau CR1 seats I'm installing this weekend (by replacing the front white leather factory seats I'm taking over 80 pounds off of the car!). The chrome Escort caps would go good with the tail pipes and 5.0 emblems. I'll post a poll and see what everybody else thinks when I have pictures of both looks next week.

Are the '98-02 a 16x7? I was planning to go with dodge police car wheels on the LTD LX from stockton wheels like what I have on my station wagon
But would really like something that I could still use the set of mach1 brakes I have.
1985 LTD LX, Mach1 brakes, 17" Mopar police car wheels. 302, T5, 4.10s
1984 LTD station wagon, with 84GT nose, some might remember it as the old Dugan Racing station wagon.
1986 FHP coupe, stock shortblock, TW heads, Holley SMII intake, 4.88, T5Z
1990 Red LX, ported AFR heads, TFS-R box upper, weenie cam, 1 3/4 long accufabs, 3" exhaust, T5, 4.56
Anybody seen the newer Rangers with the steel wheels? They typically are painted argent/silver, but also have a little poverty cap. There is a little dish to them as well. I'm thinking these with some black paint and it wouldn't look so bad.
edit: look what I found:

Anyone know what black steel (4) lug 15x7 wheel will work for my 83? I will figure out the center caps later....was hoping to go black steel rather than the later 10 hole black route. This was the closest thread I could find after I searched. Thanks...

Not a common size in that bolt pattern.
Tempos had a steel wheel that looked similar to the SSP steelies but the offset may be wrong and the look-a-likes were only 14".
Focus steel wheels, but the offset will be wrong at ~40mm.
Probably the cheapest option, without spacers or custom order, would be to purchase some Wheel Vintique steelies. They have the 'smoothie' that can be purchased primered, chromed, or primer center/chromed hoop.
The advantage of going to just going to 5 lug with Ranger rotors/rearaxle/drums opens up a plethora of wheel options.

Thanks for all the info....was hoping someone here may have know about some steel wheel that I could get. The more I research the more I see 5 lug will have to happen

Didn't older Mopar had a factory steelie that have the right bolt pattern/offset for our cars?

Yes, they are 15x7, I've got a set for sale, 4 15x7, and a set of 15x10's I had made by Stockton wheel.

Ranger middle hats and maintaining jewelry. You will have to routine the gaps that keep the maintaining band to the rim middle, but other than that it will continue to perform. I did 16" Mo-par cop steel rims with the Honda brake discs for a buddy (he had later braking system on the car) and it seemed fantastic with the Semi-Gloss Dark rims/trim ring/center cap combination. . . . . . . .

This is a great thread, thanks for all of the postings, I kinda like these austere wheels? Steel, or black service wheels, good idea on looking to the CV, might be a cheaper option. Anything with mustang on it everyone what's an arm and a leg.
