Yes, pics will help. Also what will help is posting the VIN and all of the codes from the Vehicle Certification Label (sticker on the driver-side door or door jamb) and the Body/Buck Tags (metal tags attahced to radiator core support/frame, behind the driver-side headlamps).
    Axle Tag Decoder
    Buck Tag Decoder
    Door Tag Decoder
    Owner Card Decoder
    Transmission Tag Decoder
    VIN Decoder

    FEP Registries: Black Magic & Crimson Cat / Cobra / Dominator / G.T.350 / LTD LX/Police & Marquis LTS / M81 / Pace Car / Predator / Saleen / Turbo GT & Turbo RS / Twister II

Wanted (Dead or Alive): VINs, door tags, buck tags, build sheets, window stickers, owner cards, transmission tags, axle tags

If this is the one I am thinking of, there should be a post or two on it here and at the mclaren forum....

    Easily fixable.
Just a shame if it is 32K - it was sure let go.... Hope you got it a good price on it as if I recall the original price was too high for that condition. We have seen coupes lately in IMMACULATE condition get sold or at least up for sale for 8-10K....

Problem for these cars is - it all adds up. Once the paint is gone, a new paint job, new stripe kit, etc. adds up quick. It is no secret that you can spend a lot more money on these cars trying to restore them then to just buy one that is already garaged kept and in tip-top shape....

Glad to see another one is trying to be restored however....

the vin is 1MEBP79M8FF606234..no tags and no stickers etc however it does have the original doors and fenders with the correct date codes and manufactors vin on the dr door..has anyone ever seen the hood with the grill delete inserts?
85mclaren..the car is not as bad as the article says and yes, the price was less than half that...no way in hell would he have sold the car at that price

I did not see the article mentioned , what is wrong with the car ? looks pretty good in the picture with the exception of the warped skirts .

You need to go over to www.ascmclaren.com and post in the forums there. Many more people can help with this car.

    http://www.ascmclaren.org/phpBB

I believe this car has been mentioned in a few threads. It's a decent car. It is a very early example of an 85. The hood scoops instead of grills were only put on a few cars. We have seen them before but they are very rare. The hood striping is also fairly unique to this car as well. The side skirts are supposed to be straight and not curved but the oem pieces naturally did that over time.

thanks for the help...the side skirts are actually bent and cracked in two spots on each side like the car ran over something and bottomed out..but no structural damage at all....over the winter the skirts and lower paint work will be done as well as the wheels..then it will be a solid #2 driver..it is obvious the car was outside most of its life, said to have been owned for the first 10 years according to carfax by a wealthy business owner(i think he was said to own a ski resort) then sold to another who again owned the car for more then 15 years...the miles add up on each case too as the interior is REAL nice I have reciepts for work done at a mercury dealer, the car was towed in not running with all the brakes frozen from sitting so long in the 90's

One of the owners I believe was a chef at the Mohonk Mountain Lodge.. is what I recall Sandy saying.... which was the reason it sat out so long unprotected.

Stan, Thanks, I am sure yours will look better.... mine is in good driver shape, crows feet checked paint, scratches and a quarter size dent down to the metal on the front fender.... its great from a far but far from great. it is exactly how I need it to be so that I don't wrap it in bubblewrap and not drive it!! Look forward to getting together with some of you local New Englanders at least once this year, just purchased a new home yesterday so the next 4 months or so will be kinda busy to say the least, not happy about it

thanks like I said, not what I wanted to do with my summer however this will be my final house! One good thing is the car won't see many miles this year either as I won't have the time again this year.

update... car has been in the new home for about 6 months garaged, just hit 33,xxx on the odometer. Just drove the carb to a specialist with the correct Holley kit and mod list by JACook, thank you to him, so should be running good for spring.

Justin, make sure youre ready for Spring Mustangs Unlimited. We want to load the place up with capris. Then maybe they will get the respect they deserve.

Nice. I missed this thread originally. Nice to see another New Englander (esp one with a sweet ASC Capri) on the board!

right on, I will make every attempt to be there, but what is the date? I am 30 minutes from Manchestor. Might be racing in the Loudon New Hampshire roadrace series this year as I missed last year and we start the last week of April (actually driving to new hampshire tomorrow with a race bike to get it ready) But yes I plan on driving this thing this year, and I will take time off from work just to do it
