For the longest time I have always believed that the ones that matter most are the ones you build. For the money I have in it I could have a decent cleaner newer one. The thing for me is that connection that I have with this car because of the time I have spent on it working, sweating and bleeding.
In Quebec we make most people's impression of the rust belt look like nevada. As a consequence the prices are retarded and where you guys might find 5-10 cars for under 3000$ that same beat to death car is 7-8000$ even clapped out.

I do feel for you and all of the FEP members that have to deal with major amounts of rust. I have done plenty of rust repair on different vehicles over the years. Thankfully most of them customers and not my personal vehicles. I restored a 1968 Mustang coupe for a customer that drove it in college in Chicago. The only parts that were original when I was done were the hood, roof, upper cowl, firewall, and the trunk lid. Everything else was cut out and replaced with not so great Chinese sheetmetal. I tried to convince him at the time to just buy a rolling shell and swap everything still useful over to the donor, but He wanted HIS car fixed. Not sure it was still HIS car when we were finished, but he was happy and still has it today.
Good luck with the repairs and as you obviously know, you can't have too many donor cars/parts cars when dealing with rust!

That's the funny part, the roof and door hinges were the only bad sections. Floors, towers, torque boxes are nice. The main damage was neglect. The previous owner used to work in a club and it had been kicked, keyed and generally abused. The first I changed the oil it came out in clumps. This will be my first full restoration so to speak. The day I bought this car I made a promise to my now ex that I would never sell it until it is done. We broke a while ago but I am keeping that promise and as we all know nothing is ever done. Bought it at 27, I am now 40 time flies.

Looks fantastic! What's the color?
'85 GT
1991 Emerald Green Pearl Metallic
I believe it was the colour they painted it in 99. Car is originally black underneath.
The lines are so crisp, the doors close with a finger. Weatherstrips around the window channels are bad though

Love that color! Can't wait to see it when it's all done. Nice job so far!
Well I've been driving and putting mileage on it. 1200kms so far. Carb is finicky but doing ok.
Got rear ended two weeks ago in traffic though. Luckily not very fast but still had to get police involved. 1400$ damage as per insurance two cracked taillights (I was restoring my actual lenses so it was two 87-93 lenses) and my bumper needs some love. Not my fault and luckily I'm storing my car at the bodyshop for touch-ups this winter .
Replacing them with 1993 cobra lenses because well why not.
