as far as the trans cross member goes, you need one off a 86-93 v8 stang. aod sits back furter in the chassis, manual sits more forward. aod cross members will work with the t5 trans from my experiences.

Summit Racing sells a complete manual rack and pinion kit for a decent price that comes with a rack and new outer tie rod ends (the ones from your power rack will not fit). However, you will also need to buy a new steering shaft, as well, as the power and manual racks use different shafts. DO NOT buy the Flaming River steering shaft. Either find a Ford shaft from a junkyard/eBay/Craigslist, or order a Maximum Motorsports manual steering shaft.
Double-hump crossmembers, as stated, can be found on any '86-'93 5.0 Mustang.

I'm curious too. I thought their ad stated they were an OEM supplier?
A real cheap way to get a manual rack is to remove the power steering pump, lines and the internal valving from your ps rack, and plug the holes with pipe plugs or set screws, I forget the threads. It works fine, though it isn't as clean looking as a dedicated manual rack.

Love to hear your reasoning on why not to use the flaming river shaft. I need some amusement today. Flaming river also sells the a nuckle to adapt the manual rack to the factory steering shaft. It retains the rag joint.
Yes, I also would like to know. For me it worked well.

Just heard a lot of gripes from folks on here and other sites about how the Flaming River shaft is made kind of flimsy and only has a couple of stop screws holding the thing in place. Haven't heard any horror stories yet of an actual steering shaft failure, but I'd rather not suggest it to someone and have them be the first to experience that.

I got a Maximum Motorsports steering shaft. Fits well, but haven't driven with it yet.

the summit rack set up comes with the steering shaft. i just installed their complete kit. 330 bucks for everything. manual rack, tierod assemblies, steering shaft, urethane bushings for the k-member mounts, and all hardware. real top quality stuff for short money. id recomend the standard ratio, it steers like i have power steering, and i dont. i can post some pictures of it if you want.

Guess that means I should be able too use one hand
with a standard ratio rack, i have no issues whatsoever. my wife drives the car regularly, and doesnt have an issue with it. if you are at a dead stop, with the brakes applied, you know there is no power assist. other than that, one of the best alterations to my car i did. i love the way it drives on the highway, nice road feel. pretty cool.

I think the manual rack is 4 turns lock to lock (verses 3 for the power rack)
So you trade slower steering response for less turning effort.
i went with it because my pump was leaking, my lines were dry rotted, and my rack was leaking. oh yeah, and both outer tierods had play in them. so it cost me the same to go with a new manual vs reman'd pump and rack, and some lines. plus it freed up some space under the hood.
