    What it the correct voltage for the 4180c choke? 6V or 12V?
    '85 Mustang convertible GT, 5 speed, 4V

    The 4180 choke gets power from the alternator "s" post. On my 3G it makes about 7 volts...not sure about the stocker. The hookup to the alternator ensures that the choke isn't powered unless the engine is running. If you hook it to any old 12v source it'll work, but it doesn't need 12.

    The stock voltage is about 7 volts.

    The "S" terminal of any alternator, by definition, will always measure 1/2 of
    the charging system voltage.
