Thread: '79 Capri build

  1. #1

    Default '79 Capri build

I have a 79 Capri, I paid $400 for it, and actually saved it from the crusher.

I plan to build a Bullitt replica, DHG, no spoiler, Bullitt rims, an all around sleeper look.

here is a picture of it when I got it...

Glad you saved it from its untimely demise

I like the Bullitt idea, just dunno 'bout the wing-less look. At least go with the stock 3 piece wing maybe?

    thanks guys.

On the spoiler- I'm gonna build it with no spoiler first, if I don't like how it turns out, I can always add one later.

I'll get some current pics up tomorrow.

I've kinda wanted to do a Bullitt Fox Mustang, I think it would be a cool looking ride when done. Highland green with a black leather interior, Torque Thrust D rims(Bullitts may look better) and a 390 with a 4 speed to top it off. Just my vision of it, good luck with yours.

thanks, I wish the 390 could happen. maybe some day....

only non-black on the interior will be tan inserts on the seats and door panels.

here are a couple of the older pics

I like the idea. What are you going to do about the hood? Flat or scouped?

I do agree that it would detract from the Bullitt image that I'm going for, but I always could put it under the hood

Even if it fits under there I just don't see the point? A nice K&N air filter with the filter lid has a nice look to it.

Just my bias, I have never liked the street scoop look. Hilborn style scoops on the other hand...

    Wingless man.

I really felt naked when I first got this car, my last fox body was a 88 Saleen and afte having that whale tail I really felt odd but being hatchless really grew on me.

I have been working on welding in the spoiler holes on the hatch... I'm considering pulling the doors off since they might need replaced anyways...

thanks. I've got the hatch about done. I pulled the dash panel in order to make sure everything's good under there. I have a rusted spot on my driver's side frame rail, right below the strut tower, anyone know the best way to fix this?
