    Default Tail Light Interchangeablity

Can anyone tell me if the '79 to '82 tail lights will bolt up to the '83 to '86 body? I read somewhere that the mounting points were different. Someone suggested that I put '79 tail lights on my vert' since I already had a '79 front end (was already like that when I bought it). I kind of like the idea but wanted to be sure of the placement.

The tailigt panels are completely different between the 79-82, and 83-93 cars. While you could get the older lights to bolt up on the newer panel ( may require cutting), they will never seal as the newer lights use 3 seperate seals across the width of the light, the older ones did not.

    I guess I could always get 1) the '83 front or 2) get a 79 rear cover.

An 83 nose would be very easy to swap on to your vert.

A front end swap would also mean hunting down an '83 hood as well. I read some threads on here regarding special aftermarket convertibles that were produced from '79 to '82. Now if were to see one of those it would be a one in a million shot. Clean verts regardless of engine year combo are VERY rare. I want something different.

Changing a tailight panel is a whole lot more work than getting a hood and bumper cover installed and painted.
