Default Ford owner in south-central Michigan

Hi, my name is Michael. I currently own three Panthers ('81 LTD 2-door, '87 Colony Park, '87 Crown Vic P72) and no Foxes, but have a notion of someday getting a Fox body such as my parents' old '84 LTD wagon that I unfortunately never got my hands on. I'd heard about this site initially buy a guy who's a fellow member at GrandMarq.net, so when the urge to search for Fox LTDs hit again, I thought I'd join up and see what tech trivia I can pick up.

    Pics of the current trio:

Thanks! I've had that one by far the longest, nearly 12 years, though its future with me is currently uncertain because after nearly 12 years of being messed with and being parked outside, it's going to need a lot to make it nice again. And the lighter sedans are of course quicker with comparable power (which I'll be finding out for sure if I end up swapping the wagon's engine into the four-door temporarily while I decide how to fix the four-door's engine).

Welcome! I love those boats man. I had an 89 Crown Vic police interceptor, it had a 351 2bbl from the factory which was relatively odd to me, it was also equipped with a wide ass 2.55 rear end ratio.... it was a true TANK. The coolest part was the 140 certified calibrated speedo, wish I had kept that....

    I've never heard of a 2.55:1 RAR! My late '79 Country Squire had a 2.26:1 in the 8.5", though - it'd do 70mph at 5000rpm!

My buddy I got the P72 from said that when stock, it was the slowest car he'd ever driven, with the ol' VV, teeny cam, and a 2.73 Trak-Lok that got replaced with 3.27s following an incident with Kumho "R" compound racing tires. After very basic changes (Edelbrock cam/carb/intake, E7 heads, BBK 1511 headers, 2.25" exhaust), he claimed it'd outrun his '94 Mark VIII. I recurved the distributor and put on 2.5" exhaust with a Pacesetter X pipe before discovering the source of the valvetrain noise and parking it pending more spare wrenching time.
