Default Another 84GT Turbo rebuild thread.

This is your fault PsRumors.........your thread made me do it! I am rebuilding (more like resurrecting) an 84 GT Turbo (typical Ohio car) and will be keeping my work progress here. Enjoy the carnage.

These were all just basic pics of the car......when Photobucket feels like playing nice, I will have about 15 more pics of the rust and hate that Ohio had ravaged on this car.

Not sure which works better but I like the looks of the Tri-link over the MM torque arm.

Rust never sleeps; but hopefully I can just kill it outright. I have a 91GT that will give it's life to save this car.
Gerald, I will get more of the Volvo head conversion pics and info when I can.

We shall see what progress will be made and how long it takes.
Forgot the pic of some of the boxes of parts (these are the ones that fit in the hatch area. Also an older pic as some boxes are gone, and more have been added/moved).

Looks like you're planning a very involved build. The Volvo head isn't an easy retro-fit from what i've read, good luck and keep up with the pics. On a build this big it's easy to get discouraged, seeing where you were compared to where you is a nice reminder you're making progress!

More pics of some of the work....I post them as I find them and get them uploaded to photobucket. There are 56 folders with pics in them on our computer; so far I have gone through 30 of them. God knows what I will find if I keep digging. More progress (or digress) pics to come!

Thanks........took the rearend to the sandblasters today. He told me it would be about a week before it was blasted and ready to pick up; cost me $65.00 to have it done, not too bad I would think. After I get it back, the Watts towers get welded on, the lower control arm brackets get modified, and then it goes back for a finish blast and then off to the powdercoater (my oven isn't big enough to handle these sized jobs). I will be having the center section powdered Cast Iron and the tubes powdered in Cast Steel to look just like new, only protected versus open to the elements. Brake backing plates (I will coat them myself) will be either Gloss Black or Stamped Steel. Calipers and brackets are getting painted in Chevrolets new Orange Pearl Effect and all hardware will either be coated Black or Chrome plated. New brake lines installed and the soft line from the rear to the car will be Braided Stainless (already have the kit). I'll keep this thread updated as work happens and Photobucket cooperates.
