    Default 1983 Thunderbird Big Block

    Hi folks!!

Just thought I would introduce myself and car.

I drive truck for a living and when I'm not hauling frieght, I'm working on the T-Bird.

The car is a 1983 Thunderbird that was originally a 302 with a 2bbl carb(can't find any listing of this...) and an AOD.

I yanked out the 302 and dropped in a 460 that is bored .030 with Hyperutectic flat tops, Edelbrock Performer RPM heads, intake and cam, Eagle rods, Harland Sharp roller rockers. I rebiult the C-6 myself with a TCI rebuild kit.

Painted it flat black with the turbine wheels. Looks kinda like an old shine runner!!

Hope to get it up to the track soon to see what it will run

    Thanks guys,

Its my third BBF/Four Eyed Fox swap, first was a 1979 Fairmont, next a 1985 Mustang and now the Bird.

I think I liked the Fairmont best. It was that light tan or cream color. It had hubcaps and all. A real sleeper. A guy wanted to race me at a grudge match at the local track, he had a late 60's Chevelle with a 427/4spd. I beat him by four or five car lengths. He drove back to the pits and picked up his wife and left. He said later to a freind "That yellow Fairmont is sneaky fast!"

I really like the low end grunt the big block makes.

There is a guy near me with an 82 bird and a 460 that runs crazy fast. I love the torque those things put out! Nice Bird!

I got an '83 like that, but mine fits under the hood :-) You would never know it's a big block car.... unless it's running of course.

Yeh, this would have fit too. I didn't think it would and cut the hole, then I saw that with a dropped base air cleaner, it would have. I am running the K member spacers so the engine sits nice and straight.

Do you have any pics Dr Lost??
