Default Texas Kitty wakes up from hibernation

Since my 86 5.0L Capri arrived in October from Texas (thanks Scott), I didn't want to take it out with the potential changing weather and immediately put it away upon it's arrival.

Well, I finally got to take it out of hibernation today as we had mid 50s temps, so I put the registration paperwork in the window, and took it out to meet some LI buddies. Joe, Dan and myself met at Joe's favorite photo spot where we took a few pics but chatted it up for hours.

Next up for the 86 should be prepping the sun-worn silver paint, bringing this cat to life with fresh new paint (silver as well). I am also mulling over the idea of also adding some pearl to the paint. the red pinstripe will be left off the car, but I also have a set of Jeffrestored Marchal covers that will be right at home on the front of the foglights.

The only other thing the car will need right now, is either a nice cleaning or replacement of the carpet. This car is a good example of how our foxes can last well into the 200K mile range (this car has 181 and shows no sign of weakening).

thanks everyone for the kind words.

I've had cat scratch fever since high school, so it's been with me almost 20 yrs. My first "Mustang" was a Capri, I still miss her to this day (Black Magic 9D option, 1 of only a couple of hundred). And none of the Mustangs I've had since have given me the same feeling that car did.

I even had the nickname "Kid Capri" in high school and college with my car buddies. I was hooked the second I saw a black 86 t-topped RS pull into our high school parking circle way back in 1990. My jaw dropped in amazement.

This is my 3rd Capri and it isn't going anywhere. She's safe in my possession and she will shine in all her glory pretty soon. The weather is finally cutting us some slack in the northeast so, she's getting all the trim pulled soon for the paint.

Other things that will be going on this cat will be polished ten holes with newer Bridgestone G009 tires (courtesy a very good buddy here), along with an MGW short throw shifter courtesy eric50h. I also just picked up a set of old school Motorsport valve covers, black with the finned aluminum. They should look pretty cool under the hood.

I've also got a scoop and an asc spoiler for the car, but I am likely saving those for another project.

I really like it... that is my favorite color combo on the Capris... I remember the Lincoln/Mercury dealer in my home town back in 85-86 had a few of that color instock.

I would have to move up to your neck of the woods to be in that club, but does "cool" mean freezing during the winter?
