    Default Time for Paint...

Today is the day. I couldn't wait any longer with all this sub zero weather I had to do something. So I brought my new Capri in for paint today. These are the pictures as I was pulling out of the driveway. I plan to take another set of pictures once it's in paint, and then after I have done all of the trim work on the outside. I will be sure to keep all of you posted. Ed, Jeff,... I hope the Capri will be to your liking.
I just noticed that in the first picture you can barely see the crimson cat poking two of it's four eyes outside, haha. Too cold to come out and play though. Stay tuned for more pictures.

Minor update: The capri will be picked up Thursday or Saturday. The bad news, the paint started to lift in several places and he had to sand and reshoot those areas. I hope it doesn't cause trouble in the future. Unfortunately the bodyman blamed the primer; sorry Adam.

I hope they D/A'ed the car and resealed/reprimed it before paint. The spray bomb primer job in the pics looks like a painters nightmare. I hope flex agent was added to the bumper covers too.

Well damn, that sucks to hear. I spent alot of money on that primer too (SPI epoxy). I wonder if it had anything to do with it sitting out in the sun getting chalked up for a year or so? Out of curiosity, what kind of paint did he spray on it?

Did the primer lift with the paint, or did the paint just not stick to the primer?

I'm not sure yet on all the details. I will find out when I pick it up.
I know he blocked the whole car out, and I believe he sealed it, but I could be wrong.

Well again, I'm sorry to hear that Josh. I figured it would be good to go. I tried to do everything right, and I invested a lot of time and energy into it. I hope he can save it for you.

Well, first of all lesson learned on the old primer that was on my capri, should have either been reshot in 2 part primer and blocked out then sealed, or just been sealed and shot. Either way the paint work was good, but the primer issues and reactions were not good.
When my car was painted the first time it reacted in several places. Then Bill re sanded those areas and re shot them. The next day he noticed the hood and fenders were just awful and the reaction came back. So he reshot the hood and fenders again.
I went with big_jason to see the capri and pick it up and I was satisfied. Bill put an extra 4 hours of work and extra clear into the capri and I couldn't afford any more added to my cost of getting the work done so I took it. I will now be wet sanding the whole capri when the weather gets above 30, and then doing all the trim work on the car. I am very impressed with Bill's attention to detail in the door jams under hood, and also under the hatch. More pics to come.
