    Default Porkchop brace??

I'm still trying to figure out the wiring on my 83 GT. The previous owner lost the engine harness that connects up on the firewall with an grey 8-pin connector.

I have spend hours looking at the pdf wiring diagrams from this site, but for some reason, they show every connector except the one for a V-8. As I trace the wires, it shows an 8 pin connector and the description is "On porkchop brace"

Where is the porkchop brace exactly??

    Thanks everyone!

I'm guessing; but the "porkchop brace" may be in the passenger compartment under the dash. There are two or three braces that help support the dash and I assume the porkchop brace may be one of them.

Porkchop brace is on drivers side and one end actually attaches to part of the forward door jamb area. If you are sitting in the drivers seat and reach under the dash with your left hand it is in that area. It is tubular, and If I recall, it is roughly 8 inches long and about 5 inches wide at the "thick end" which attached around the steering column area. A lot of the wiring connectors from the body wiring that enter the drivers footwell attach to the brace, at least that is the way the factory did it. It actually is shaped like an "pork chop." Wish I could get a pic for you, but can't right now.

Thanks Jonathan, that explains things a bit better for me.

This project would be complete by now if only the wiring schematic hadn't left out the 8 pin connector for the 5.0 engine.

Hi! I am new to this forum.

    I just bought an 83 5.0.

I have to rewire most of the engine bay as almost every single cable is cracked - mostly next to the connectors.
I am facing the same issue with this grey connector as the previous owner did cut some wires so I am quite lost.

@5ohFFR: Could you get your job done? I know it's quite a while ago but maybe you remember what you did
