    Default Modified Mustangs & Fords

January 2009 issue. Looking at the new issue, i noticed they found a 84 t-top SVO. They said that there may only 25-30 of these. They bought it on craigslist for $300 bucks. The guy was going to send it to the scrap pile. Anyone Know anything about the svo t-top? Does anyone have one here?

A "factory" T-top SVO has never been found. Not one. All of the T-top SVOs that have been found left Dearborn with a solid roof, and then a T-roof was installed after the fact.

If an SVO does not have a "D" code on the VC Label and a "TR" code on the Body/Buck Tag, it left Dearborn with a solid roof and somebody somewhere put the T-roof in later. There has never been a SVO found with the D and TR codes.

Chalky helped Nelson and I do the motor in his SVO, and I in return helped Chalky put his 84 back together after paint. He then drove it from Portland to Kentucky and got first place in the "84 year class". Nelson saw the add for that car on craig's list and told chalky about it. He is currently working on the T-top car pictured above.

Call it a "dealer option" if you will but it was not a factory option. Once it left DAP with a solid roof - and they all did - and a T-roof was installed, it is now and forever modified from what it was originally. It is no longer "factory original".

Ford dealers did not do a T-roof installation. Cars & Conecpts did.

That 85.5 had 537 miles on it when the T-roof installation was done.

When the add came up originaly this was the only pic we had to go on.

I belive it was listed as a stang. This cause alot of confusion as you can see. The poor car looked like a white stang with a capri front clip and a svo hood. A few days latter a few of us noticed what looked like t-tops and svo thin moldings and side spats. But nothing ever really came of it. Months roll on and I get a call from chris who was rather giddy. I asked him what was going on and he said he was going to look at a t-top svo. He was hopping to get it for cheap to rebuild it. Like he said I have a all out svo it would be sweet to have on that is all stock, and the t-top is a bonus. Little did he know it would have a few more surprises for him. Now for the rest of the pics I have saved......

Oh ya here's looking at you chris!
If you blink at the end of the straight away you'll miss the twisties and what fun would that be!
