    Default voltage reg.

    I have a 100 amp alternater and a 140 amp external regulater, is that ok to run? will it cause the alt to be charging all the time

    An alternator doesn't put out it's rated capacity all the time. That's just what it's capable of putting out if need be. Same with your regulator, 140 amps should be it's maximum rated capacity. Whether your alternator is charging or not is determined by the voltage level of the system, not the amperage. So yes, they should be fine to run together.
