Hi SRM351, now that you have mentioned it, they do look a bit like Taunus items, whatever they are I'm pretty sure they are from the Ford parts bin

Nice coupe by the way, how long have you had it? I'm on the look out for one myself, just missed out on 2 RHD ghia's recently....I'm gutted

I'm afraid there are no new updates on the car at the moment, I'm busy trying to get my pace car done. I'll then swap the cars about and start working on the T-top, I can't wait!

Default Some progress on the T-Top

It's getting real close to being on the road.

SVODon is sorting out the engine and plumbing and a few other niggling jobs, we are hoping to get her out for the summer

The RHD conversion was done by the English SVE (Special Vehicle Engineering).

They did British registration Type Approvals for
    Australian XC Ford Fairmonts (1976-1979)

Ford FC LTD (June 1979 - March 1982),

US Lincolns and of course, US Ford Mustangs.

The company also did the Works BDA Escorts, XR2 Fiesta, Capri 2800 Injection, Ford Escort XR3i upgrades. Ford of According to a 1982 Wheels Magazine article by Evan Green, the alterations SVE were forced to do were
    leak fuel on rollover,
UK spec tail and head lights,
    fold back door mirrors,
    Right Hand Drive conversions,
softness/ jutting/frangible requirements for interior fittings.

British Type Approval required all these to be appraised and completed for Uk imports which weren't private imports. The compliance issues with the US Fox Fords were addressed by using the Mark 3 Capri rear tail light housing, which was a standard Lincoln/FC Ford LTD inclusion, attached with a GRP (fiberglass) backing plate, and this carried the standard European spec fog and backup lights, seprate indicators and brake lights, and the E stamp required for British Type Approval.

Before 1978, individuals were using reversed Triumph Spitfire/Dolomite lights for some of the Aussie XA and XB GT coupes.

    ,

The Fox Mustang used the mainstreamed SVE solution, the German Capri tailight assembly which was a simple inclusion.

The fold back door mirror requirment was intially solved by three ways. First by using Italian Lancia/De Tomaso Torrino fold back mirrors. After the Fox Thunderbird arrived, Cortina Mk 4 mirrors on the Fox Thunderbird mounts was used. Finally the normal US Fox Thunderbird doors mirrors were used.
