These are pretty easy. Just carefully pry up on the old ones to pull them off, and the new ones snap right on. I would suggest painting them first though. The trim aftermarket ones fade really quick.

    Default Outer DW

Take the door mirror off first. It's not required but one less thing to get in the way. Put some tape on the paint below the dew wipe and pry carefully.
You can reuse the old metal trim and it just snaps off. The repo ones only come in gray trim I believe. If you have a McLaren Vert. then there is another trim piece that must be removed first above the handle as the bolt goes thru the tim.

Keep your old outer trim. The new repro exterior belt moulding trim is crap.

Just remove the rubber wipe from the new moulding and put it on your old one.

For any one looking to buy new exterior dew wipes for their 79-86, hold off if you can. I have my own version of these wipes coming out. The rubber is a better quality and the metal trim is thicker and not dented. You will not be disappointed with my reproduction.

Negus has offered up his services again as a unbiased reviewer for these wipes. The new version is due out in 6-8 weeks.

Right now the other reproduction is on backorder from the supplier anyway.

Mine worked out fine you just had to tighten the clips by pinching them a bit so they held better, make sure you wrap the claws of you pliers with tape so it doesn't chip the paint

So did you reuse your trim with a new wiper or replace the whole thing?

The convertible and the hard top were the same outer dew wipe until 87, just different run channels and FMR already has those in stock.

We are expecting the new dew wipes to be in the first week of december.

As for the shipping on the carpet to Canada it runs about $50. We ship it through the post office so our Canadian customers do not have to pay the UPS brokerage fees.

NOWWW you tell me. I ended up using the original trim, mostly because I ended up bending one of the replacement pieces by sneezing on it too hard...very flimzy. And of course I didn't cover my door and ended up scratching the paint - mostly because I am an impatient dumba$$ and couldn't wait. I like how it turned out though with the new rubber and old metal.

FMR...I have some extra sheetmetal I could send back to ya for a credit or something..
