Great job on the box! I like how you can conceal it with the sun shade too. Keep it out of sight. Love the Rockford Fosgate products. I've got a vintage Punch 45 and separate low pass crossover from back when RF first hit the market. That little amp bridged will drive a pair of tens amazingly well!

Thanks guys. The RF stuff is great. The old stuff has a really incredible reputation these days. I think even more so than when it came out.

I just got back from getting some carpet material. Grayish/silver color so it should blend okay. Before I cover it I'll snap a pic of all the sides to post up in case it helps somebody in the future.

Myler, how do you like that 347 stroker? What kind of hp/tq ya get?

Agreed. It is not a good idea to have something like this loose. As a matter of fact, I just don't see it staying put the way I drive. Let alone getting in an accident.

Here's some pics of all sides while out of the car, and before carpet:
NO PICS NOW 'CAUSE MY DUMB A$$ JUST DELETED THEM ON ACCIDENT!!!

    Some more info:
I used a 4'x5' piece of 5/8" particle board...I know it should be MDF. I don't know what the heck I was thinking when I bought it. I hope this doesn't come back to haunt me!! Ideally it should be 3/4" MDF for a 12" sub, but there were clearance issues and I needed as much air space as possible. Since I'm not amping my other speakers I'm not putting to much power to the sub so it should be fine in this case. I ended up with 1 cu. ft. of air space that and the 5/8 material would most suited for 1-10 or 2-8's.

I'm out to the garage to carpet it!!!!

I bet you'll be ok, the bass note will be a little tighter but won't go as low I think. It really depends on what the woffer calls for. All in all sweet setup, way to think outside the box....

Well I screwed up and deleted the pics above off my photobucket site, and don't have them on my hard drive or camera so they are gone for good!!!

    Here's a carpeted pic anyhow:

I got rid of the extention Jeff pointed out earlier in the thread and rounded all the corners/edges prior to carpeting.

Thanks for the compliments and ideas everybody,

Oh man, that came out awesome! I'd bet you'd be someone's hero if you post a detailed "how to" on your enclosure! So, how does it sound now that it is finished?

Thanks. I'm not the best at write ups. I just do without taking the time to document. It is a shame because I really appreciate the people that take the time do step by step write ups. Part of it is impatience once I get going.

Hopefully I can get back a copy of the pics (praying Jeff has them) of the box out of the car so it gives an idea of the cuts. I should have taken dimensions while it was out also. In any case I would recommend templating the parts that hit the interior trim and the angled slots for the t-tops.

BTW, it would be possible to obtain 1.5 cu. ft. if I hadn't dropped the amp into the box. I just wanted to show it off, but I didn't want it to go where the remaining storage was in the hatch area.

I'm amazed at how it sounds!!! I'm used to this amp pushing two of the 12's. I figured one was plenty for this application. The head unit is an Alpine 9872. Very versatile unit. I have the head unit pushing the other four speakers using the built in high pass filter, and the RCA for the sub amp. The unit even has built in crossover points for the RCA just for subs. It was a reman I got for a $100. It came with the chord for the IPOD, and you control it from the head unit!!!

I'm interested on the features on that Alpine. I'd like to update the Alpine unit in my car for MP3 capability. I think they make the best sounding head units with Kenwood coming in at a close second.

Thanks for giving it a shot. I thought I had them in two different spots on my photobucket. I deleted them from one before verifying the other. Even when I try to half /\$$ a write up I screw it up!!! Maybe I'll do better next time!!

It is awesome for the money. The 9874 has more features for a little more money, but I'm cheap.

When I bought it I didn't even know it had all the crossover abilities built into it. That info was in the manual. I was worried once I powered up the sub I'd need an additional amp for the fill speakers or at least a crossover, but the head unit made cake of all of it.

It is worth checking out the manual for more detail. You can probably get the PDF on the Alpine site.

Thanks. I am impressed with the head unit big time. It is a cheapy, but loaded with useful features. I got it as a resale from Crutchfield for $100, but it is normally only $129 anyhow!! It has the IPOD control built in also. That was the one feature I couldn't do without.

Yeah I wish I would have sprung for the IDA-X300 it has a color screen that shows the album cover! hind sight is always 20/20 With the reciever you have, do you use the standard cord or is it usb or a high speed cable?

i have issues with the standard USB Input not keeping up with my ipod touch, then the high speed cable will not charge the ipod touch but it will other i pods and alpine has no solution for the problem they blame it on apple

I guess it is the standard cord. It plugs into the back of the unit and bottom of the ipod. It controls and charges it.
