    hmm, that info was pretty interesting. I can understand the reasoning on behalf of the manufacturer, as well. Having worked in Flagstaff as a driveability tech, the altitude definitely hurt performance.

    Some of the emmission decals on the valve covers in the late 70's would state something to the effect of being certified below 4000 feet. In 1985, I was involved with a group that set a world altitude record with a 2 cylinder, 2 stroke engine on an ultralite that we got a set of altitude compensating carbs out of Canada, and they worked as intended all the way to 24,000 feet.
