40th anniv of mustang at private airport with Jack Roush and his P51 Mustang and a bunch of Roush mustangs. Before this picture Jack was flying over our heads crazy how low!! After this picture we escorted Jack to the track with the 2 SSP's leading the group... we may have been going fast it was being recorded but can't find video. That's me and my FHP on left.

If not, let me know and I will give you my email if you want to send over some pictures. FYI - we are awaiting some FHP documentation to confirm 108 Florida SSP Mustangs.

Here is a new photo I found/purchased on ebay of CHP #E408445 (a 1985 SSP) -
This is the only silver & white SMPV (Specially Marked Patrol Vehicle) from the first year (1987) of this pilot program by the California Highway Patrol. That first year, the CHP repainted five SSP Mustangs (at least one 1984 SSP and the rest assumed to be 1985 SSPs), along with Dodge Diplomats, Crown Victorias, and Chevy Celebrities (15 cars total) for the purpose of stealthy speed enforcement of truckers. This picture is different than the others I have seen, with the shot being closer to the car and at a slightly different angle. The original I received of this photo shows one of the special low-profile Show-Off rear deck lights, as well as the relocated antenna on the decklid. This particular 85 is listed on our VIN Project:

The last time I ran the VIN, it was last seen in New Mexico around 2000. Cool car! My SSP is the only confirmed SMPV to have turned up from that initial year of the program. A Blue & White 1989 SSP Mustang and an all-White 1993 SSP Mustang are the only other SMPVs to have turned up so far. Others are likely out there, but it is much harder now to confirm them as SMPV cars because we cannot presently get access to the CHP Assignment Cards. The only method now to confirm a SMPV is to match an in-service photo showing the unit number to the number written on the driver's door. Here are the other SMPVs we have documented (but these cars have not turned up yet):
