Don't know where the conversion was done but the 86 2R was purchased in Albany, OR and then shipped to Australia. I spoke to the owner recently at length about the car and it's apparently low mileage and in very good condition. He said after purchase, importation, conversion etc, he had close to $AUD50K into it.

He was trying to sell it for $AUD16K but the SVO is definatly less well known than it is here so i don't know if it sold. I'm sure Ken has more details.

Pity the Aussie dollar isn't still worth $0.52 US like it used to be. The car would be a bargain.

I don't know exactly who did these conversions but there are quite a few sources if you Google "Right Hand Drive Conversions". Since Ford sells a RHD Taurus' into Australia they used a modified Taurus rack. I also know they cut and spliced the original dash somehow. The rest is a mystery to me.

Chris ( Chalky ) was kind enough to give me the lead on the 2R / red one which is actually an 85.5 to boot. The 84 model is on several SVO sites and is fairly well known. I was trying to buy the 2R but wasn't able to work out the money at the time. I still have the sellers contact info so if and when I can afford it I'll be getting back in touch to find out what happened to it and try and buy it.

Depending on the camera / lighting the SVO grey can sometimes look blue-ish. They'll also fade at different rates.

you know, with the exchange rate back in line, it would be a very affordable buy and importation right now.

Yes I've been seriously considering putting my Barrett-Jackson 85.5 2R up for sale. While it is an extremely nice 10,600 mile example this RHD 85.5 2R is just so freakin' cool.

I had started the chase for the RHD last year but stopped when the stock market really took a dive.

Any ideas on what the cost would be from Australia to NW Georgia in an enclosed container?

It wouldn't change my collection that much. I'd be selling an 85.5 2R and gaining an 85.5 2R except with RHD and a few more miles.

    You out there Chris?

No, but I can tell you what it would cost me to drive it over to you. Especially as I'm most likely the only one here with an Aussie drivers license.

This is an interesting option that I had not considered. Maybe you could drive the RHD to me and then buy the Barrett-J and drive it back home?

I'll toss in a few bucks for the container if you throw a couple OHC 4.0L Ford I6 engines in there. I think my SN95 would like an OHC...just because I don't have enough projects already...

I checked into the price from L.A to Sydney its about $2500 + - and you get the whole container to your self and they fit 2 cars maybe 3 and other stuff and it still costs the same.
