The engine looks outstanding! I love how everything has been cleaned and is now free of rust, including the bolts. When my brother and I do our stuff, we do the same thing. Like you, we take off all of the rust and then coat everything - except we use paint instead of the powder coating.

Like biscwgn above just stated, it's nice to see someone taking their time to do it right.

Are you calling Paul a tool? I mean, that's no way to get on his good side.

This does it! I am doing as much powder coating on the 302 as I can, because that is so nice.

When Jeff is done with Paul send him this way.

Paul is free of charge but his traveling expenses are high. He will need his equipment which consists of:

    - 2 stage 213491827cfm air compressor
    - media blasting cabinet with assorted 50lbs bags of sand and glass
    - the powercoating gun and various colors of powder
    - an oven wired for 208VAC of sufficient size to handle the parts to be coated

So figure some place handy to 1000lbs of stuff. And access to 208VAC with at least 50 amps.

Kinda like me trying to tuck a CNC mill under my arm as a carry-on when flying someplace.

There is a $12 deposit for me, and your credit card will be charged if I'm not returned in 72 hours. I also require Barro's Pizza and Mexican food.

I work for free, but only for people whose last name is Croke, and first name is The. Or hot wimmenz.

I still have to powercoat the oil pan, turbo manifold, valve cover, and a few odds and ends. I'm going to try something neato for the pulleys, especially since we have a couple sets in case I screw some up.

It's really exciting to be making progress on the Turbo RS. I think I have more fun working on Croke's cars than my notch because they aren't a basket case like mine.

I'm hoping that we can get both cars running soon, and get a good street race going. Maybe get some video with the stickycam.

Here's the motor he's up against:

So we'll see if my wimpy 306 can stand up against the mighty RS that is Powered by Croke.

    Paul.

I'm guessing 275 rwhp. Croke says it'll make more than that, but he's obviously not familiar enough with the curse that afflicts me and my cars.

Meh, as long as I get to drive the car around and enjoy it I don't really care. Croke feels the same way about the RS.

Good work...nice to see some updates on this. Paul; it looks like I will be stepping up to the Eastwood Pro gun here soon. Your work looks good as always.

Let me know how you like the Pro gun. I'm slowly becoming increasingly annoyed by the hobby gun, but I'm having trouble justifying almost a grand for a new gun. Coat some cool stuff and post pics to motivate me.

I'll get on that Paul!! Just have to get motivated (physically and financially!) to start doing more work to my rides. Being a Florida boy stuck with Ohio winters just kills the motivation when weather starts turning COLD!!

After an unfortunate accident that needed a few stitches, I was finally back in action today and got some more stuff coated for Croke.

Various parts a friend's car, Croke's Capri RS Turbo, and my notch. Colors are matte black, silver metallic, and Tiger Drylac Xtreme Chrome. Croke's serpentine tensioners are in there.

Cam Pulleys for Croke's Capri RS - Xtreme Chrome base with Candy Red Translucent top coat. There was some outgassing, and it's a little tricky to get this just right, but it's not bad for my first try.

I suspect the cam belt assembly should be on before long, along with the exhaust manifold. It should start looking like a real engine soon.

    Paul.

I had the same problem with multi-layers outgassing on me as well (they would also wrinkle or become scaly as well). Solved it by baking the part initially, letting it cool, rebaking it at 160 degrees for half an hour; and while the part was still fresh from the 160 degree bake, shoot the top coat and bake it at the normal cure time and temperature. The preheat would help gas-out and help the flow out of the topcoat.
By the way, you still do great work and it looks outstanding!

Progress is being made here and there. As pieces get cleaned up and coated (and I get time), things are finding their way back on to the engine. One of the time consuming tasks was coming up with a timing pointer. The plastic Ford used is ugly, floppy, and does not age well, especially here in the desert. Took a couple prototypes and mockups but the final version is pretty sexy.

Also got the exhaust manifold and down elbow powder coated along with the headers for Paul's notch project. The down elbow has been modified by Stinger to match the 3" downpipe. Paul supplied the powder which is a special high temp ceramic type and should hold up well. Because of the rust buildup on the manifold and because these were going to be tricky for Paul to do in his garage, we opted to have them professionally coated this time and the results are excellent. Hopefully, they will still look good after some heat is applied.

I assembled the turbo, manifold, down elbow and the adapter pieces I machined to work with the Stinger fmic and the Forced4 flex eliminator.

Next is the oil pan and the cam pulleys Paul has coated.

Hmmm. Croke, I don't like that rusty hotside and dirty turbo on our otherwise immaculate engine. Is there some way we can clean it and paint it?
