    Default GRRRRR.... More V6 Issues!

Well, looks like NObody also has the right motor mount for a 1985 Vert Mustang 3.8L V6!

    *sigh* this is really frustrating.

Hmmm, that is strange. We have the left side listed but not the right.

Have you looked closely at it to make sure that the left and right are actually different???

same here for my 84 when i went looking for one
it was my first convertible and i didnt know stuff like that was different between regular cars and such.
got lucky and found a decent one in the junkyard.
never could find another pump/strut thing attached to the p/s bracket that mounted to the fender.
come to think of it, none of my books mention any difference for vert. mounts. i never compared it to a regular mount so i personally dont know if its different or not.

I'm not doing the work... thank god. If I did the damned thing would be driving me even more nuts. The Mechanic... who I know... knows to call me instead of my mother about stuff like this.

    Yeah, the sides are different.

Okay, here's what I would do.

The motor mount for the V6 is like early V8 motor mounts, there is a bracket on the motor that the mount bolts to then the mount bolts to the frame.

Instead of that arrangement, do away with the bracket that bolts to the motor and use motor mounts from a 94-95 V6 mustang that bolts directly to the motor with no bracket. That style of mount is similar to 87 and later V8 vert mounts, should solve your problem and will be a stronger mount as well.

Here's the links to the NAPA parts.

Wow, I had no idea. And they'll fit right on when the bracket is removed?

Where did you get this info? Trial and error?

    Thanks!

No, just a little common sense investigating by browsing through the different year models in the parts catalogs.

I haven't done this actual motor mount swap on a V6 but it looks like it should work the same way it does on a 5.0 V8.

Get the mounts and see if it will work, worst case you can always take them back and get your money back.

The holes in the frame where the motor mount bolts into are in the same place on all years up to 95 on V6 and 5.0 V8 K-members so I don't see why it wouldn't work. But the only way to know for sure is to get the mounts and try it. At least the later model mounts are available, and if it doesn't work the worst you will be out is some time and labor. And if it does work then the problem is solved.

sounds like a plan but i dont have my vert. anymore anyway.
i dont think the mounts would work on my tbird though(my manuals only go from 85-90 and the k-member diagrams show differences that would tell me it wont)
    oh well
