Default What is the little green dot under "posts"

Over under a persons name there is a dot, usually gree right under the "p" in posts. What is that? When i hold the mouse ove it it says different things. Mine says "undisclosed number" or something like that. People with alot of posts it usually says "will be famous soon enough" lol

It's one way the govermnent keeps track of you and letting you know that they're whatching you.....

Hover over it...as with almost all of the little icon like images in vBulletin...it will tell you what it is there for. In your case, it is just the gov't tracking you and letting them know you are online. At the time of this post, it is not green, but gray for you because you are offline. However, when you read this, it will again be telling the powers that be that you are online again.

    Edit: Reading comprehension owns me.

The square you are refering to is your reputation. the more green boxes you have, the more distinguished you are...meaning you have given great advice and/or been a good seller of goods. It is a way to let members know if you are full of ca ca or not.

    Further clarifying:

Everyone who was a member BEFORE the board upgrade started out with a grey one.

Everyone who signs up now starts out with a green one.

The more reputation you GET, the more you can give, too. So, if a bunch of people give you a bunch of rep points, when you give someone rep points, you'll be giving that person a larger amount of rep points than someone who has only gotten rep'd by one or two folks.

If you have no rep points, you can't give rep points. It will just be neutral and not have any effect on someone else's rep.

n00b question. Where do you determine how many rep points you have to give out?

I don't know whether you guys can see your 'rep power' or not. I can see it in the admin control panel if I look at someone's profile. Rep points are how many you have, and rep power is how much you're able to alter someone's reputation.

If any of y'all find it, lemme know.

Yeah, these are the default phrases. I've thought about customizing them, but I haven't had time to be witty just yet.

I think something may be borken. I have a little "scale" icon under my username next to my online indicator. When I hover over it, it says "add to D_C's reputation" and when I click it I get a pop up box that says "this post has not received any reputation. You have ten reputation points." I shouldn't be able to add to my own reputation, should I? I don't see this little scale under anyone else's name.

If you don't see a scale under anyone else's name, you have not earned enough reputation points to be able to give other people more reputation points.

I think it might be set to 20 points before you can give rep. I'll check and see. If it is, I'll try lowering it to 10 and see what happens.

But, no, you can't add to your own. That's why it's telling you that the post has not received any reputation.

I now have a green reputation dot, but I cannot see how much I actually have anywhere (I searched my whole User CP) and I can't see who has given it to me. Is there a way we will be able to see how much we have and who gave it?

If a Mod or Admin adds rep points to you in your profile, then there will be no evidence in your CP.

Correct. I do not see that in my User CP.

I'll give you rep points only if you promise to NOT have emo-fest here. You gotta promise first, though.

WOW...um...apparently my fiddling with rep is a bit too powerful! Wow.

I gotta see what's been going on with my rep points!
