Default New owner of a 1980 Capri.

Some of you folks in the KC area already know. She has the I6 200 Auto in it. Black interior. Has a Stang spoiler and LX tails. Has duals with glasspacks. Don't worry the glasspacks are coming off ASAP! She has a 83-86 IP cluster. New stereo and carpet. She does have some rust here and there. I can't complain on almost a 30 yo car. Floors are pretty solid. No ghetto lean. Has a rebuilt tranny with paperwork.

After hacking up my 82 10 years ago I have no plans to transplant a V8 into this Capri. Eventho I have the drivetrain and Kmember.

    Here are a few pics.

A few more. Not a bad grocery getter if I say so. The prev owner says she might get around 18mpg on gas. This about right? She has a new tune up and carb looks either new or reman.

Nice!! It's really amazing that his 80 buck tag has capri on it, my 79 doesn't have it. Really wild how there was so much change in production plant operations from year to year.
I am very interested in Capris, Mustangs, Shelbys, and Saleens. Basically, if you cut me, I bleed Ford blue.

I imagine after they had to replace the Capri fenders on the 5th Mustang to go down the line, they decided to stamp the car on the bucktag

I don't think glass packs sound half bad on an I6. My friend had a Maverick with a single glass pack and a monza tip and it sounded pretty sweet. That is a clean car for being so old.

Only 18 MPG from a 200 in such a light car? Doesn't sound right to me. I get 30 in my '80 Capri with the 2.3 and the 4 speed overdrive, driving at 55. Hell, I get 19 in my '83 GT with a hopped up 302 driving 65. I'd expect better gas mileage, or start looking for problems. I'd think you should get at least mid 20s with that motor.

Nice Capri. I read somewhere that the inline six is a rare motor. Ford did not make many as they went to the V6. I just remember reading that.

My dream car. The only thing that would make it better is if it had the Borg Warner T4 transmission in it. I have always wanted an I6 car. I've heard they run really nicely and have some good low-end grunt.
