Default The day of the Foxes

Well today I got to drive both my Fox cars.

    I took this...

over to get this so I can drive it for a couple days (FINALLY!) while the weather is nice.

One sad note, over the course of the past week or so, something fell on the '83 while in storage and left this on the hood...

It was nice to drive it. The tune is in dire need, and now finally I'll be able to attend to that since the engine appears to be staying together this time.

I'm madly in love with the 83. I know you'll make the XR-7 equally as impressive.

The 83 looks nice with the Cobra wheels. I have always been a fan of the 4 eye Tbird!

Nice to see them out. Really sorry to see the dent. I can relate, as I dented my hood recently too.

Yeah, those wheels fit that body style pretty well. I was looking for something else for the '80, something a bit more blocky to match the car better, but the deal I got on the other set of Cobras was too good.

The weather forecast has changed and they say no rain until Fri night/Sat now, so I may just drive it all week. I need to dig back into the MegaSquirt manual to sort out the tune a bit better. My warm-up strategy leaves a bit to be desired.

Well the '83 was off the road for 18 months and the '80 sat in a garage for 3-4 years before I finally got it on the road...so it's time

You know what I was thinking the '80 needs as far as wheels?

I think that would look good. A set of Mark VII BBS would probably work pretty well for that.

Current set-up is FMS C-kits on the front and SN-95 converts on the rear with a relocated LCA mount on the axle.
Coil-overs for the front is eventually planned.

The '80 is running the same set-up

Love the Cougar. When I was in high school, I used to see a like-new '82 that had the shiniest black paint job and a set of Cragar SS wheels on it. It was so freakin' cool.

Well I don't need (or want) any more offset on the wheels. I have plenty of room to run the 94-04 style stuff. In the back, that is an SVO axle with 275's on it...and there is still room.

The 80-82's always looked like they were teetering around on their wheels stock, so widening things up and adding more meat definitely helps the look of the car.

That is exactly right. The big boat Caprice of the 1990s suffered the same problem, looking like a hippo on rollerskates. Slap on some wider rubber, however, and it became the seriously cool Impala SS.

Does the XR-7 have cobra or 13" brakes? If not, I have to agree with the idea of MKVII Meshes....I would be willing to trade you 7 of the MarkVII wheels for the Cobras!

Currently it has 12" Vette brakes on the front, but may get 13" when I sort out the Brembo calipers on the 83 (and thus swap the Cobra stuff).

I can't step back to 16's... I'll just have to keep my eyes out for something in a 17".
