Default Recomendations for mechanic in the NY/NY area???

I'm looking for a reputable mechanic in the NY/NJ area. I have surging idle, surging when cruising in 5th gear and idle stumbles once in a while. I tried troubleshooting this myself with no progress. I threw a few new sensors at it and adjusted what I could with no change. I’ve had enough…
Can anyone recommend a mechanic that is familiar with the 86' 5.0 and has solid troubleshooting skills? BTW the motor is stock.

Have you run any codes? It is pretty easy on these cars and might give you a better idea of what specifically is going on vs. just throwing parts at it...

Here are some ways to run codes without a scanner. The codes are easy to retreive, using some doorbell wire and a LED light. I used the procedure on the 2nd link listed below at www.turbotbird.com. This may get you closer to fixing your problem.

Yes, I did run the codes at the end of last season. It came up with only the TPS out of spec. but I adjusted it and even put a new one on but the code came back.
I'll look into the links you provided, but I think I already spent too many hours, even days trying to tune this thing. Thanks, Rick

Good luck, maybe the wires/connections to the TPS are bad and not the TPS itself...
