Not a clue, but it might be a good idea to see what the prices for Turbocoupe and Merkur turbos are...if there is a problem internally. Now if you did get frustrated enough to remove the turbo, you'll find a common cracking around the smaller of the two holes on the exhuast side of the turbo. Not imporant.

Oh, did you do a compression test? Forgot if you did or not.

Damn...cause gotta make sure that water isn't coming out of the engine itself
Thats may be a cheaper fix than another turbo.

I don't know if this helps you or not, but this is what an 86 set up looks like with the forced4 water lines....

If you blink at the end of the straight away you'll miss the twisties and what fun would that be!

mk, i haven't progressed much and i have not bought a compression tester either, i don't believe its coming from the motor itself, but as i fill the radiator i start to hear it leak where shown in the pic.

Yes that has a 88TC valve cover for sure.
First thing i'd do would be buying the aftermarket feed and drain kits.

First order of business is to get the car running right before turning up the wick and throwing HP increasing parts on it.

The source of (one) of your oil leaks is no doubt the oil feed line to the turbo. It should NOT be a rubber hose with a hose clamp. In factory configuration these were a hard metal line just like a brake line. I'm pretty sure Forced4 Motorsports has these. Get that corrected asap.

Since you have no idea of the condition of the motor a standard cap/rotor/plugs/wires tune is probably a good idea. A new water pump and timing belt would also be advised.

IMPORTANT - Be vary cautious of the insurance for this car. There are parts on the car that are worth more just by themself than what you paid for the whole car! Make sure you get good coverage on the car and keep in mind in the unfortunate event of an accident replacement parts can be VERY costly. It looks to be in great shape, get a car cover for it and it will help it stay that way too.

Edit: Nice steering wheel too, Momo MonteCarlo. Its my fav, I have in in my 84 and 90. If you want to part with just let me know!
i have the same wheel, but im not parting with it. i do wish i had the original though

imho... whoever last owned this car... thier work cannot be trusted. i would do the comp test, then just pull the motor and start over. itll be a lot easier to see what you need once its out. it will probably be quicker than chasing ghosts

i been debating long and hard and everytime i come back to the thought of just completely ripping the motor out and starting fresh, but then again i look at it like it was someones dd and it has to be something minor to get her back in running condition. So rip it apart and start all over, or trouble shoot till i get her running perfect?

well pulling out a four banger is basically cake. then you can inspect the clutch, put a new rear main seal, etc. just my opinion but when i see stuff like that rubber hose on the turbo, i get worried. sure it may be a can of worms but at least you KNOW your work is good and you arent going to catch on fire. plus you can clean everything up a lil, paint and some elbow grease and clean up the wiring a bit, and itll look real pretty under the hood, which also adds value to the car. all my cars, no matter what a p.o.s. it is, is nice under the hood and reliable too. with this approach you'd already be putting it back together, plus you would know exactly what you've got. whatever decision you make, best of luck to you. its a beautiful car and just wait til you hit some twistys with it, you'll be really happy.

    *update*
Sold the notch this past week and had some mechanics come over and look at the 84. They told me that by the sound of it the head was bad because i told them the antifreeze was coming out towards the turbo from the exhaust manifold and they said its a bad Head Gasket. He asked me to start the car up with 02 sens. disconnected, no intercooler, and told me the head is possibly bad and that i would need to resurface the head and get new HG and that would come up to about $800-1000 with labor and parts. SO i picked up a running 86 svo with the plans of taking the engine and swapping it str8 to the 84. I got a 86svo and it has speed in KM/H and i think its like a mexican svo. I need some direction as to where im headed with these projects. My heart is for the 84
