    Default 87+ headers & an 82 exhaust...

Getting down to crunch-time on my motor swap, & I was planning on using the exhaust (factory) sys I have now untill I can get a true dual set up.. but looking at the headers.. the look larger, than the stock manifolds.. can I bolt up for the time being or do I need to wait till I get the full sysem in place?

    If i've understood correctly, your 82 Y-pipe won't fit the 87+ headers, you'd need an 84-85 Y-pipe.

you might as well wait until you can get an H pipe and catback...fiddling with the headers and stock exhaust is a PITA and probably wont work because of that little flapper valve just after the left manifold.

the damn flapper valve is there to close when the engine is Cold, recirculating the exhaust gasses through the heads and under the intake and out the other side. It's purely an emmisions thing and there to get the car warmed up faster, you have to ditch it when you go to duals
