One other problem also is there is a minimum post count (I think 90) inorder to qualify also. I barely have enough time to fully enjoy FEP. Plus, it's harder to start posting in a new forum in which one is unfamiliar with the folks.

I'll see what I can do, I guess.

Default Anyone know the Motorcraft part number for the connector?

I picked up a new MarkVIII fan today (Motorcraft # RF64) and would like to buy a new electrical connector for it. I forgot to ask my buddy about the plug when I asked him to pick up the fan. Anyone know the part number for it? Does WPT-168 sound right? Thanks, Ken.

Here's a nice write-up on the Mark VIII fan install.

    http://www.dfwstangs.net/tech/markvi.../markviii.html

I have a Taurus two speed fan on my Lightning and only run it on the low side and it cools just fine. I may hook the high side up with a relay for when the A/C is on, that is if I ever get the A/C working again. I use a El-Cheapo adjustable thermostatic fan controller from the parts store, been on the truck over three years with no problems.

If you have the two speed fan, one way to tell the power wires apart is the wire for the high side is much larger gauge than the low side.

    Thanks Guys,
I wrote them both down. The EW3 sounds like a Motorcraft number and my friend who works for Ford says there is a bunch of mark up on the Motorcraft parts so he gets me a pretty good deal. My fan, new in the the box with tax was $150.00. I felt that was a good price. Now I need the plug, controller and relay. Nice write up on the install. I probably won't install it until I install the 514 but I still want to get all the stuff before I start. Thanks again, Ken.

The part number on the box (F8LZ-8C-607-AA) must mean I have a fan for a 98 car. I'd like to run it on a low speed except when the air conditining is on so how do I wire it up for variable speeds if there is only one speed in the fan motor? Thanks again, Ken.

You would need the oem fan controller to run variable speeds, otherwise it would run at full speed whenever it is on. I believe the oem controller varies the voltage to the fan to control the speed. I guess if you want it to run at a slower single speed you could run a resistor in the power wire to cut the voltage.

I'll be installing mine into the GT soon. All I know is that when I tried it in the SVO, it let the magic smoke out of my SPAL fan controller.

Now the controller is just fine behind the stock 4cyl fan. I need to step up to the DCController. Probably the 60a one just to be sure.

I got to wonder what the cost would be for the OEM controller. What is the DC Controller capable of doing?

I'm sure the oem controller could be had for not too much if you got a used one but don't know what it would take to hook it up and adapt it to a older car. I have seen used ones on ebay.
