Great work. I found the "bedsheet" style diagrams at the dealership that I work at and these will be a great asset! Thanks

Default Not sure of the 86 diagram?

Hey all, I am glad to be a part of a rare group. I can say that in my area, there are only two stangs like ours in a 45 mile radius. And I own one of them. So, here's my problem. I have an 86 GT 5 speed. I was in the process of converting it to mass air. I was out obtaining the new harness and my boy thought we would no longer need the old one so he cut it at the firewall. I have frantically searching for a new one. When I came home and told him we were cutting the mass air section from the new one of course he felt bad. Damage done. So, I came on here, found the thread showing the diagram for the 86, because I thought I could some how make the harness from the 92 I bought work, However, my old harness has two plugs by the firewall and once the cut harness was removed it left the twolugs being the female ends. The new harness has one, and is also a female not to mention different color coded wires. Everything else appears to plug in. On the schematic, I did not see these two plugs and therefore have no idea where to go from here. It will be a shame to go carb'd. Anyone got ideas. Thanks I have attempted to upload pics of the problem.

    Can be usefull ...
Here's a pin-out of the two circuits behind the dash cluster for '79.

Left and Right are named according to the contact position on the circuit while looking it installed on the instrument cluster (as you would see the graphic below)

    • Green circuit
      • G1 : tach ground
      • G2 : tach signal
      • G3 : tach +
      • G4 : temperature sensor
      • G5 : ammeter in ?
      • G6 : ammeter out ?
      • G7 : fasten-belt + ?
      • G8 : fasten-belt - ?

    • Orange circuit
      • O1 : not used ?
      • O2 : oil sensor
      • O3 : IVR +

      • O4 : fuel sensor
      • O5 : instrument bulbs +
      • O6 : turn signal + left (so right turn signal when driving)
      • O7 : gnd
      • O8 : hi-beam +
      • O9 : turn signal + right (so left turn signal when driving)
      • O10 : brake bulb'

I've checked twice ... but still might be able to make a mistake so if someone can take some time to validate ...

I'm sure you could print them on 8x14 sheets of paper, telling the printer that's what your using, but you may have to squint hard to see a lot of detail.
