    Default Dominator

This happens to sooo many people. We have to get references and investigate these shops before we drop our cars off at them so this doesn't happen.

Most of the times yes, but I know this town and it is a small town where everybody knows everybody so Dakota should not have had to worry about this.

I did stop down tonight and he had shot the new floor pans, the inner side of the doors and the underside of the hood with paint. He wanted me to give my ok for the color before he proceeded. Snails pace progress, but still progress. BTW, I forgot just how awesome Canyon Red looks when freshly shot. I may stop down tomorrow and click a few pictures to put on here.

Slow progress is better than shotty work because they hurried just to get it out of their hair. It does seem as though he is doing a good job by you.

Spent today taping off the engine bay wiring, vacuum lines, steering shaft, etc. and scruffing the old paint up in preparation for painting. With any luck (fingers crossed) we should have pictures of a painted car over the next week or so.

My kid was kidding me this morning asking whether or not I was going to remember how to put it all back together! I guess that's half the fun.

Stay tuned, we may have a break through in the paint arena!

Hope you have a heated shop Dakota. I was in your area today to do some Christmas shopping and loved the wind. The couple inches of fluffy snow really helped too with the 20 foot visibility.

    Chris,

Wish I had positive progress to report. It's been crazy with slick roads and deer around here in January and my friends body shop is loaded.

We have the car taped and scuffed, its nearly ready for paint.

My own kid hit a deer with my Dodge dually, so I'm in line to get the back passenger door dent pulled out on that!

I'll drop in an update when I have something to report!

OK, we may be warming up again.

Stopped by Friday, the hatch was off and being sanded, and my body guy says they are going to paint the jams, probably this week, as a prelude to the main paint job.

Looks like its going to turn out real nice. For what you are paying for labor, I would think its going to take a little longer. He has to make room for jobs that pay the bills. Also sounds like you got a real good deal on your motor. I'm going to be building a non-roller motor for my daughters 79 Ghia coupe. Those motors made good power for ALOT of years before roller motors became popular. Good luck

Ok guys, serious progress. I stopped by tonight, and the engine bay has been painted, the inside of the hatch and all of the door jams. The car was covered as my friend was doing some painting on another cars parts, but I pulled up the plastic and shot some pictures.

Heres a couple of the engine bay. I'll try to upload and post others later.

Here's a before picture of the engine bay:

    And now:

    Small update:

We hung the doors, hood and hatch yesterday. Hopefully getting closer to an exterior painting event... He missed the underside of the driver side hood hinge, but we'll catch that on the main shoot. I pulled off all the masking tape, re-connected the brake lines to the master cylinder and put in the windshield wiper motor Saturday. We also put the struts back up so he can manuver it into the paint booth. Getting closer........

A couple more pictures with the doors/hood on to feed the crowd. Hopefully the next ones are of a fully painted exterior!

Looking good Dakota! Do you think you might have it together for the show at Sioux Falls?
