Finally got the "Dom" loaded and over to the body shop to have the driver floor pan installed and for my body man to give the body a look over so we can plan the final bodywork that he'll do this winter. The good news is the engine bay paint is in good condition and according to him "a little scotch brite will bring it back to new".

Here's a pic of it on the trailer.

    http://i119.photobucket.com/albums/o...inator/175.jpg

Once done, it will come home for the rebuild of the interior. Nov/Dec will be the engine/tranny repower (I hope!) and then it will be time to take it back for the winter body work starting in January. At least thats the plan!

    *** Update ***

I met with my body man Friday to walk through the work needed for the car. He stated that there is no bubbling around any of the windows or hatch deck, and that the rear quarter's can be patched with no problem.

The bad news. The drivers door is shot, not enough metal to repair. The passenger door is usable but will need work.

The good news. I purchased an '85 GT stripped drag car for a song and it has great doors (I posted some pictures, the black one with the aero front end). Should he not find any doors, the drag car will be come the doner. It already has the 8.8 rear that was going to be swapped (3.73's in the pumpkin) and a host of other go fast goodies. The seats were also coming over. It will be a busy fall!

The motor will most likely go in my son's '89 so I will have a roller '85 T-Top car for sale somewhere down the road!

The floor pan should be in soon and it's back to work putting in the drive train (I should probably purchase it now!)

    **** Update

The floor pan is in! Next week the doors will be switched and jamb's painted along with inside of the doors (new ones are off a black car). Then the engine bay will be sprayed as necessary before taking it back to have the engine/tranny put in. Slow but steady progress.

Jury's out. Got sniped on eBay this last week on a great set of 85 seats so I lost out on those. I have two sets to choose from at home, both needing some work or a recover.

I didn't know Beresford had a bodyshop. Where's it at?

A block off old mainstreet, by the lumber yard. The owner/operator and I are good friends, and one of his sons and my oldest son graduated high school together last year.

Speaking of my oldest son, he just bought a Kenne Bell supercharger for his '96 cobra. I'll get my first crack at working on a mod motor here real soon.

    Spending money again.

Ordered up the carpet for both the passenger area as well as the hatch area. I also order up a complete weather stripping kit (complete 14 piece kit from Blue Oval Industries).

Door swap is happening next week. We may get to body work and paint earlier than January. Floor pan is in and looks great. I know, I know, pictures! I have to remember to bring my camera when I stop down to the body shop.

Broke the news on the drive train cost to the Mrs. I avoided the dog house so that is great news. Got to love these restorations, one step at a time. Goal is to have it ready for next summer's cruising/car show.

Trying to have it done by the Sioux Falls All Ford show in June. I hope they bring Canton back, they didn't have it this year for the first time in 25 years!

When did Sioux Falls start having an all Ford show? I'm really behind on things if thats the case.

It's been on for sometime. Last year it was on June 10th. Usually early to mid June, and it's at the Sioux Falls Ford dealership on 41st street. They clear the whole lot. As with anything in the Midwest, turnout depends on the weather. Last year it was a bit threatening, so the car numbers where down.

Mustangs tend to have a large presence, but there are plenty of T-Birds and others as well.

IN the latest issue of MM&FF theres an ad that has a pic of one with a major wide body kit. Another foxbody that no one really knows about is the EXP which to my knowledge is a foxbody 2seater hatchback Escort.

The EXP is structurally the same as an 80's Escort/Lynx (CE14 platform), has the same dash (with different instrument cluster) uses the same (junk) engine. The only thing I see in common with a Fox body is the heater control panel, vents, and EXP's have the map light with built in dome light that I think a few select fox Mustang's had. I have an '83 EXP with a 5 speed. Still in great shape, but been sitting for years with the infamous cracked head.

Body man called today. He'd been working over the car a bit prepping for the body work and decided the left rear quarter was marginal. We talked a bit about it and came to the conclusion to reskin it. The inner portion was fine, but the wheel lip was a bit too thin and considering I plan on keeping the car we went the new quarter skin approach. Add $149 + labor to the bill!

Fortunately the right rear is fine, as are the fenders and rockers. So far just the driver floor pan and now the left rear quarter needed new metal.

Here's a few new pic's. Car is covered due to work being done next to it. I have one pic of the new floor pan, one showing the left rear wheel lip that caused the new quarter panel decision, and one just showing the car in the shop.

More pics as real progress happens.

I grew up in Grandview, Missouri, and bought my FIRST Mustang from what was then Summit Ford in Lee's Summit, MO back in 1986, when I was a mere 19 years old. I purchased that car and remember seeing the brand spanking new Dominators on the lot wishing I could buy one of those. It's now Bob Sight Ford. I remember the Dominators very well, being that I grew up in Grandview. I was only a teenager at the time and was more into girls than cars, but I do remember them running around town. Very popular.
