    Default hi po 289 heads

would a set of hipo 289 heads fit directly on my 89 shortblock? would the pushrods be the same length considering that it is a different style rocker arm set up?(screw in stud v. pedistal) also would a ford racing f-cam with 1.6 be all right on the stock pistons?

Not sure about the push rods but I think the HIPO heads have small combustion chambers - about 54 cc from '64-'67 and if you happen to get '63s, they're 49cc and have smaller intake valves (1.67). That's smaller than the intake valves in my '83 Fairmont 200 I6!

they are worth more than the performance that they produce. As a core, you can sell them and make enough for AFR's

The 289 heads are better then E7s because of the small chambers. If buliding a high comp 302 they are about the cheapest simple way to getting there. If you have a set or can get a set READY TO GO* (CHEAP) then dump the huge chamber e7s and bolt them on. High compression motors rule. I would not however pay alot for them.

guys, you do not get it...you have a set of hi-po heads that will cost $500 to rebuild. I would sell those heads for $1500 as a pair of re-buildable cores and buy heads that breath a hell of a lot better. IT IS A FREAKING NO BRAINER!

The '64-'67s valves are the same size as the E7s, only the '63s had the dinky valves.

I recommend leaving the HIPO heads to the HIPO 289 restoration freaks - sell 'em and make big bucks like Twister said.

If they are true Hi-Po heads sell them. If they are regular 289 heads and are in good working condition use them. They are definately a good bang for the buck.
