    Default It started tonight

I've been tinkering with our '84 Turbo RS here and there and got it to start tonight. Only ran for a few seconds because there's no coolant yet, one fuel injector is leaking and I ran out of daylight. It still needs the LA3 swapped in, the FMIC installed, coolant added, timing set, etc. Also, I need to get some boost controller on so I can up the boost and an adjustable fuel pressure regulator so I can tune it.

So this is what it will have when done:
    - lightly ported head with big valves w/ stock slider cam
    - LA3 computer, big VAM, brown top injectors
    - FMIC
    - 3" down elbow from Stinger
    - 3" downpipe into 3" Hooker Max Flow muffler
    - stock T3 .63/.60
    - some way of jacking the boost up
    - some way of adjusting fuel pressure

    Yay.

He's out there with the timing light. I'm not sunscreened and am still working on my coffee. I'll wander out in a bit, perhaps. The official FEP camera is pretty well jacked up, I'll see if I can get anything on Mike's camera. There's nothing much to look at, its a dirty and abused and neglected old thing. It's in desperate need of suspension and brake work, too.

I am abused and neglected. I'll ask you keep the dirty part between us, sweetie. (Skye NOT Jeff)

There's nothing visible except the Forced4 air box setup. No FMIC yet. No adjustable fuel pressure regualtor or boost controller. Otherwise stock appearing. See http://mc-machine.com/crokes_pics/v/TurboRS/ for pictures so far.

Got the LA3 swapped and timing set. Runs better with 10* BTDC than last night with 10* ATDC which was the best I could eyeball it during reassembly. Still have the leaking injector. Also added coolant and have a substantial leak from somewhere around the lower intake. I'll take the intake apart again to see what I did wrong. But not now, by 8am, the car gets too hot to touch sitting in the sun.

Sounds like progress is being made. The coolant leak is probably any of of the myriad of hoses that run to/from the oil cooler and lower intake manifold.

Did you guys need a hood for a Capri, there was an oxidized tan one at the yards I went to this weekend. It was straight & no rust.

We're in need of a flat one for the white RS. The Turbo has a stock profile CF/Kevlar waiting for it.

Aluminum 90* fitting for the oil supply line. 1/8" NPT into the turbo and -3 AN flare to the braided line. The line then goes around the head to another fitting that adapts the -3 AN flare to the double flare on the boss thingy where the oil pressure sending unit is.

I've done nothing with the grounds. Why the concern?

Sanity is a illusion the government wants you to believe in!

Mine going from the intake to the body was bad looking on one end and has like 3 strains connecting it to the rest.

There was no ground from the intake to the body that I saw. I know the EFI 5.0 cars have a grounding wire in the injector harness but I didn't see any such wire on this car.

The coolant leak is coming from the lower intake between runners #2 & #3. Small pinhole. So I'm waffling getting this one fixed or getting a new lower.
