    from what I can read...
    in an 82 GT

    CR E12
    3L08 75S 271D

But if the gears inside it are 3:08's I'm Jimmy Carter, feels waay to low for that..

heh, I could have almost guessed that one...you know being a PhKIA and everything.

    Seriously...."6 7" is a 6.75" rear which came only with V6 and non-turbocharged 2.3. The "0813" (actually 0B13) is February 13, 1980.

    Mick,

I finally got off my lazy butt and grabbed the one from my Cobra's original rearend. It reads like this:

    WGX-HX 9E16
    3 45 75 V284B

I'm kind of confused because I thought that the Cobra's came with Traction Loc's. At least it shows that it's got the 3.45 gears in it. I also have the aluminum brake drums that came with it too and they're still in useable condition. Am I correct in assuming that my car was made on May 16th, 1979? If so, that would be cool! I scraped the orignal door decal off when I was prepping it for paint and I don't know when it was made (although I have a May 10th stamp on a tag that's on the original stereo).

    Pete:

Traction-Lok wasn't available until the '81 model year. Before then Foxes had a "conventional" (open/non-locking) rear, even turbo and V8 models. In '81 it was optional with the 4.2L and standard with the 2.3T. Starting in '82 it was standard with the 5.0L and 2.3T.

May 16, 1979 was the build date for the rear, not the car.

I don't know if it would help but here is the tag that came off of another '82 GT. The guy had put an 8.8 and a 5 speed in. So I bought the trans and the rear end. Its kinda hard to read. WFC BV 4E14 3L08 A75 S271F.

Fox...would you like another from an 85 GT vert? one with the Z axle optional rear gear? thought i'd ask before I climbed through and under the cob webs....

Yeah, if y'all want to add them to this thread for me to decode, I can do that. I just don't need them anymore for the "axle tag decoder". That's been done for some time...
