    Default EXPLORER TIMING GEARS

My explorer motor is in, and i used the mustang cam with the timing gears/chain from the explorer motor. the car only runs smooth at 15 degrees btdc base timing. I'm pretty sure the timing marks are lined up. but does anyone know if the timing gears are indexed differently on the cam for the explorer motor? did ford advance or retard the explorer cam slightly for low end torque? i guess what i'm asking is if you guys are running the mustang cam in the explorer motor, with the explorer timing gearset?

why did you reuse them when a new double roller chain is so cheap?

I figured the chain from the explorer engine was new. But are they indexed different? Has anyone used the explorer chain with the mustang cam, and had correct timing?
