Default pathedic 60' times are killing me....

well few weeks ago i was getting some 1.800 60', last night i couldnt get anything better than a 2.0. i tried evey way possible to bring this thing out, off idle, 4k and dumping and everything inbetween. i tried keeping the tires dry, i tried getting them wet, i tried whitesmoking them and i tried just cleaning them off...nothing. can traction vary that much from track to track ? there was other people there getting great traction. what is everyones technique for bringing their car out of the hole ? oh, i tried 14-20 psi in the mickeys too. last time i had this out i was dumping the clutch @ almost 4k with virtually no spin. we got some driver errors occuring here, i think i was getting excited and mashing it too much too soon. any advise ?

I had the same issue yesterday at Milan. I couldn't do better than a 1.99-60ft with my MT's@14psi. 45k launch and I would just bog. Last Sun. I cut a 1.87-60ft at Lapeer with the same tires launching at 35k. Milan has a better prep on their track and I would have to say that depending on track conditions, different tires may be neccessary.

ya, track prep does very ALOT! did notice the amount of vht they were spraying at all?

also, one really good trick you can try, is get behind a big slicked car, and go exactly in his grooove.. you can hoook off his rubber.. and make sure the person in front of, if you don't have that option, isn't a fwd car that decided it needed to drive through the water and put some water on the line.. I HATE that!

yah, i am launching better in front of my house than i was at the track. these old guys were telling me not to put the mickeys in the water, just a small dry one @14psi. what im pissed about some people were hookin like a mother and other people were like me. my dad was cuttin 1.6's 60' with the mark8 (12.004 et.-if anyone is intrested).

use water for sure .Dry burn out aids in nothing with the mickeys but feathering them or just excessive where . What I do with mine is pull into the water and at put the line lock on and at about 1500 rpm shift to second then to 3rd just to get water on the tire and its easier on the tranny to work up them let go of the line lock and step on it and my 408 will boil them to when every i feel like liftin lol .

Sounds like track prep sucked. Pull through the watter box, second gear burn out until tires start to smoke, let off brake and continue burnout while rolling forward until tires bite. No dry hops before the launch. Then let her eat. Try 16 pounds of air pressure then work up or down from there.

A track that is to cool will have what affect?

If the track is too cool the rubber on the track will be cool and not be as tacky , also if the track is cooling down along with air temp condensation will build up on the track causing to become slick. If the track is too hot it will become greasy , too cool it will be slick

i once could not cure my crappy 60ft times. i was used to going 1.6's and i couldn't get out of the 1.8's for some reason.
took me a while to figure out it was my driveshaft yoke. it was twisted in the transmission and couldn't slide like it should, causing my suspension to bind when i launched.
    new yoke fixed that.
