can you tighten it anymore? sometimes the valve sucks and you have to really force it.
usually low oil won't pump up, not sink.

It sinks because you are getting "blow by". The piston rings are slowly leaking oil past the piston allowing it to fall. Most jacks aren't rebuildable either. Most pumps are made by only a few differnet manufactors, regardless of the name on the jack itself. Rebuildable pumps = more money. I always use a jack stand because they are much cheaper to buy two more jackstands than buying new jacks when they start to drift. Last count I think I have 8 stands. LOL

well a floor jack used to be $300
    now they are $80
    there is a reason.
buy the $300 and it will last.

Where are you buying $300 ones? The "good" ones are like $150 now.

years ago, you know when they were made well.
now they are junk, which is why they are cheap. you have to seek out a good one now.

I have that very same jack. It rocks.

They used to sell those at SAMS Club for like $80 or less I think. I got the Good Year CHROME jack stands to go with it. Something like $125 out the door for all.

I also, don't leave a jack holding anything up for much longer than 5-30 minutes....usually. Jacks should never be trusted to hold for long periods of time.

I have that same jack too, $60 at Sams Club when I got it, no jacks, I HATED those chrome jacks so I'm glad I didn't get them with it.

they lift definitly, but not indefinitly! use a jackstand. the sinking is normal.

I have one of those sams club michelin jacks also. I use it every day, I mean I really use it! Anything from an escort to an f350 4x4, and have had no problems with it. Although I wouldnt recommend leaving anything on a jack for very long periods of time, I always rely on jack stands, not the jack. I've seen jacks fail too many times.

Default Rousch speedy jack leaks oil

I have a 3 1/2 ton Rousch speedy jack that i got off of Craigs list a couple weeks ago. The guy I got it from said it leaks and I was fine with that. I hope all it needs in an O-ring or something like that. If anyone knows about this problem, or where I can get a manual for it please let me know. I love the jack and hope I can get it going without too much trouble. the leak is in the rear where the piston goes in to raise the jack. Thanks for any help. Moe

I must have a good one. Got a Blackhawk 2 1/2 ton floor jack brand new as a gift from my high school for graduating back in 1987. Still going strong to this day. I have used it in the dirt, garage, driveway etc. Keeps right on going 28 years later. It is slimy and ugly looking but it works great.

Welcome to FEP. Try googling the name and/or model number. You might get lucky and find a PDF manual.

I rebuild hydraulic cylinders for a living I sometimes do jacks only if they are a very exspensive jack. They usualy put pretty cheap piston and oddball seals in them that's the problem. a lot of times they still don't work right after you rebuild them.

wow, this was old thread brought back to life. since were on the topic of jacks. Over the past years i have noticed where i end up after a couple years having trouble with my floor jacks where they don't want to pump up anymore. I will usually be able to bleed air out of it and get them to work for a short time. really annoys me because my dad has had the same floor jack since i was a kid. It is probably 30 yrs old. Now i'm not buying $300 american made jacks, but i still will usually spend $125-150 for a nice full size 3 ton jack. Just seems like a floor jack should be something that when buying for diy use should last for many, many years. I also seem to have trouble with the jacks that say quick lift that are supposed to pump up in 1-2 lifts never work that way for me.
