    Default Mustang Mclaren Body Panels

Hey, any of you guys know where I could possibly find a way to buy the body panels for the Mustang Mclaren M81? I want to build a widebody but I want to modernize it and make it fit to an 85-86 car. Would anyone know if the molds for this car still exist?

Nope does not exist, you can buy the black M81 in Italy for 25,000$ I have the owners contact information. The rest of the M81 Body kits were for sale through ford for a very short time and where VERY expenisive back in the day they were available. And the owners of the only 10 M81's do not share information on there cars unless its with one another. I almost bought the Black M81 but when he wouldnt part with it for less then 25,000$ I had to pass. I offered him 15,000USD but he wouldnt go for it. Not too mention the cost to import the car from italy was pretty steep.

    Default M81

I own the #9, (the white one) never heard of #10. Do you have any information on it. I know the black one was #8 and I have seen #4, #7 and #3. Also the red enduro and Blue enduro's ( V8 cars) have both been for sale in auto trader and on e-bay. They have the same body kit. Also there was a Lorensen made by Fred Lorenzen the nascar driver back in 83 or 84 with the same body kit, never found out how many of them were built but I have seen one in a picture.

Yeah, I like those M81s. The Enduro Mustangs too. The only thing...which wouldn't be stock...would be to stuff wider tires under those fat fenders so that they were flush with the fenders - ooohh man would that look tough!

Dont have specifics, I just found that there were 10 made with BFGoodridge and Mclaren. 10 1980 bone stock mustang hatches were pulled off the assembly line and went touring for a year before I believe getting given to higher up ford company members or related.

9 street cars were made. The 10 figure usually includes the one prototype. The prototype is pictured with the girl and the Indy car and in the Dec 80 Motor Trend; it has the fuel filler in the hatch. The street cars had them in the stock location. And it was Firestone, not BF Goodrich, sponsoring their HPR tires.

The Motor Trend issue that had the car in it had a pic and discription of the kit (attached). The article said the fiberglass part of the kit would be $1200. In the summer of 82, I wanted to get this kit for my car. So, I checked with a family freind who worked in the parts dept at the local Ford dealer it would have cost me $2500 with his employee discount. Doesn't sound bad today, but this was in 1982 dollars. As a humble high school student I made less than $2000 in 1982

Not likely, its hard to find parts for some fords built in the 90's. But it never hurts to look into it

My mistake on the tire manufacture but at least I got the number of cars right. Too own one would be supreme, they dont rate them as the rarest (though rate them as one of the top 10 rarest mustangs) I believe them too be extremely rare and not saught after because they are so rare (except for the few more then few now, that know about it)

I seem to remember JBA (?) making a body kit "back when" with those type of flares using the 85-86 nose. There was an article on it in Hot Rod or Car Craft (?).
