140mph speedo
My '85GT conv. has the 140MPH speedo. I bought the car from the original owner in '89 with all paperwork, service records, etc. The owner said nothing had changed on the car since new (exception of consumables) and none of the records mention speedo replacement. I have not seen many other '85's with the 140 speedo though...

I also have an 85 with a factory installed 140 , this car is a roach / would be parts car ....and I doubt the oil was changed ,let alone the speedo ...

No offense but I still doubt all of these "factory 140mph speedos".
I just don't see anywhere that the 140MPH speedo was an option in 85 or 86. If it was possible to get it, it would be nice to hear of an explanation since it would have been a special order or an option or something.
What I could believe is that people saw the SVO and asked why they couldn't get a 140MPH speedo like the SVO in their GT. They probably ordered the 140MPH speedo and installed it the day after they got the car. (I haven't seen any '05-'07 GT Mustangs left bone stock yet) Also as a dealer, throwing a 140MPH speedo in a car gives it a bit of a "wow" factor. However, I don't think dealers can legally replace speedos at all.
Something to keep our eyes on I suppose. I've heard many stories but few details. Incognito, might be the closest to figuring it out since he has about as long a history with a car as I've heard.

That one is for t-birds and cougars. And my Dominator did have a 140 mph speedo when it left the dealership.

Just so nobody gets confused, Dominators were a dealership package, they were not a "factory" model.
I could believe that since it was a modified car by a third party. Mid 85 ascMcLarens had the 140MPH speedo in them as well from the asc factory. I am not sure if it is known who put them in whether it was Ford or asc.

The previous owner of my GT said the day the car was bought the original owner had the dealer toss in a 140mph speedo. The speedo has been in there since it was bought at the dealer... but factory option... no.

Yeah, I have my SSP speedo in another cluster. I think I also have another FMS 140 speedo in another cluster... never mind the two extra LTD 140 speedos and the rare Fairmont 120 speedo...Yep... the whole cluster from a junkyard for about $25.

I came across a Ford Motorsport 140 mph speedometer with the green km/h markings. This one has a label applied to reface it and it has the Ford Motorsport logo at the bottom part of the label. The part number on the speedo is E3ZF-17265. Is this really the one sold by Ford? I see some differing opinions in this thread.
79-82 with the Motorsport logo was something offered in 87 or so.
