Damn, I just saw the price estimation. I don't mean to come off sounding rude when I say this, but why spend so much on this car when you could pick up a clean 83 for probably 3-4K and then just paint that? I'm guessing you've probably had it a long time, and are attached to it? I know I could never sell my 89. As much as it pissed me off, etc, I'll always have it. Right now, she only needs about 20K to be complete in my mind.

i'd be doing the same thing to it.. tearing it apart and having the body shop strip it. price of transporting it from down south, along with the initial cost of replacement aftermarket body panels would be the same... i just bought this car last year, no attachment factor.. other than i love four eyed stangs..

You are definately my hero as well. About 1 1/2 weeks ago I was working on the Capri (engine) & had to remove the air cleaner w/ the air ducts that run down to the vents in the air dam. Guess what they were hiding??? Severe rust in the drivers side frame rail!!! I've seen normal amounts & I've seen bad...I think mine is the worst I've seen in person so far!! I was not happy!! I don't know what the immediate plans are, other than to pick up that 86 4cyl/auto Capri. I haven't made up my mind if I should transfer things over from the 85 & start that, or just start stripping the 86 to build that one.

T-tops are in place, have to be positioned and finish riveting..


Header panel is 100% in place.. test fit the windshield today as well, cowl panel needs to be smoothed and prepped then it'll be tacked into place for fitment w/ the fenders, hood, etc.. ..


floors are 95% completed..


might actually see some fenders and doors on it by the end of the week..

does someone actually sell that ttop panel? can you tell me who? just for future refference

That orange reminds me of the mazdaspeed orange I was gonna paint my 89 LX a few years ago. Love it.

A skim coat, some new hinge bushings, pins and the doors done..




all thats left is, a small patch on the drivers door, hinge bushings & pins, misc odds and ends on the floor, patch panel on the lower rear passenger quarter, enlarge a firewall hole, fill a firewall hole, sand/strip existing paint to bare metal (mostly jambs, hatch, and rear bumper cover), rivet in the T-Top frame, roll the fender lips, remove misc trim & windows, primer.. then she's off to paint..

Door is 99% done just sand & primer

rear lower passenger side 1/4 has been pulled out instead of being replaced.. 75% done

Rear fender lips have been pulled out 1/2" and the inner tang rolled flush from J to | 80% done..

welp they're blazing through the work..
heres the run down.. as of 4pm today..
passenger rear 1/4 is 100%
passenger side door is 100%
passenger side fender is 90%
floors are 95% complete
T-tops are 90% complete..
engine bay is 90% complete
roof is 50% stripped..
driver side fender is 25% stripped..
hatch still needs to be stripped and prepped..
drivers door is stripped, but it's been somewhat caved in, and has a rot hole, that will have to have to be repaired.

Very cool! I love seeing a car get the works but seriously, would it have been cheaper to buy a mint 5.0 and then build it? Keep us posted because it's going to be insane!
