I get my revenge for disrespecting the Capri at the drags. I love whooping up on unsuspecting 2003/2004 cobras and ZO6 vettes( most of them anyway). They stare at the bubble back hatch while trying in vain to catch me wondering to themselves....what the hell was that, that just sucked the hood off my car?

Heh, heh..... I think the bubble back hatch just ruins the Capri; but that is just my opinion. If i ever ran into a clean one & bought it? The bubble would indeed stay simply for origionality's sake.

If I ever saw a bubble back at the track.... I would have to mess with the guy by slowly walking up to it, looking it over with a real confused & constipated look on my face, & finally walk up to the owner & say,"I thought alll them thar 944 Porsches had been crushed in 'de junkyards long ago?". Of course I'd appologize, BS with 'im a bit, & offer him one of many beers in my cooler.....

lol the bubble back doesn`t wreck them its the absence of a much needed wing that wrecks them lol

I just love watching people argue over whether or not it's a Mustang or "someting else"!

About a month ago I was at a show at a GM dealer up near the Wi. line with my car club. Classes were really vague unless you had a Chebby. I entered the car in the only class that made sense ; 79 - present Mustang -class V (second to last class for the show). This was a spectator judged show. Well, for my club we had a total of 21 cars entered and we walked away with 13 trophies!! Including my 2nd place!! It felt good, but I don't do the shows for the hardware. Some of the latemodel stang guys started to complain & people responded with different versions of "anybody can make payments/write checks/etc.. ". BTW, gave the "hardware" to my daughters to enjoy since they couldn't make the show. One other thing... after this show my personalized plates finally came.... NT STANG !!!

Ironically enough stang owners are taking foxbodys and putting capri front/rears on them to make they a capri-lookalike. My buddy dave owns a 82 convertable stang with capri frontend/rear. Still not as nice as the original 85 capri, not to mention he's a 3.8 v6 compared to the legendary 5.0 v8 carb'd...

when i took the 85 motorsport capri to the woodward dream cruise in august i heard alot of stuff about the capri.

"nice mustang. why does it say mercury capri all over it?"

"thats says grand prix on it, its not a pontiac, its a mustang!"

"why on earth would somebody want to make a mustang look like that?"

    or my favorite was...
"i thought ford made the mustang, i never knew mercury did."

Its more fun to confuse them when you have a '79 Mustng Ghia notchback with a capri nose and rear fender flares and tailights If they figure out what you did, they ask "If you went to the trouble of a nose swap, why that?" you can always say "because this looks better"

Or generally I just tell them its one of the concept '79 capri notches that never made it into production.
