Were the bolts pulled out of their threads or broken off? If the caps were the cause of the breakage then a set of billet ones would prevent that in the future.

LS swaps are the hair implants of the car world. Sure the owner is proud, but everyone else is laughing.
A 351w, a carbon kevlar clutch, and a bad control arm bushing. That cap broke across the bolt holes, and the bolts in the other cap bent.
go with a 9 inch rear with reinforcements, keep your tires, traction isnt your issue :P

Something wasnt right in that rear end. I have seen those 8.8's withstand 800+rwhp verts launching and never break like that.

I think the shock load from the axle hop did it. The wheel spinning freely and then taking load repeatedly for a couple seconds, plus the fact that clutch wouldn't slip and the u-joints wouldn't snap meant that something had to take the brunt of the force. As odd as it sounds, I'm planning on making a driveshaft loop and using cheap u-joints, just in case. If they do break I could replace them with a simple tool set and a little improv. That is, until I drop some money on nice gears and axles
Hey deleted...I read through my last post and it kinda made me sound like a dick. I didn't mean anything by that.
