When this thread was started back in 2006 it was said that these Recaro seats were 27 years old, so that would make them from the 1979 model year... I do not believe that is correct, Recaro's were available from '79-'82...I have not seen '79-'81 Recaro seats with the center section where the black and white material is have so many sections or should I say pleats or humps... so my conclusion is that these were from the 1982 model year and were a option in Mustang and Capri
    Recaro's from '79 Pace Car

Heres from a members car "2112COBRA" '81 Cobra

    Here's Recaro's from a '82 GT I almost bought a few years back

I came to the conclusion the seats were from 79 because of what looks like a build date sticker under the side trim...

Oct. 79 would be 1980 model year. Not sure that date means that's when the seat was built. The engineering number (E0SB...) designates that part was originally engineered for a 1980 Thunderbird (E0S).

Nice Ron - it's cool to know someone else out there is keeping these seats on the road too.

Do you guys have replacement foam or do you restore them yourselves? I will definitely keep you guys in mind when I get around to working on mine again...

Do you guys sell just the patterns or would you want the actual seats to do the work? Also, are you able to wrap the netted halo headrests too? (the ones in this thread)

    Sorry for all the questions...

Ok first things first as far as the foam goes you can no longer get exact matches but can get foam that is interchangeable and only slighly different. Otherwise we can always rebuild the foam.

We put ALOT of time into our patterns to make them perfect so its not something we would like to sell but we do sell pre made jackets that you can install yourself. Otherwise we offer free installation with the purchase of our jackets if your local.

We also make new diaphragms for later seats and straps for seats like these (the webbing that keeps your butt from dropping into the seat).

We pretty much do anything we can to restore these classic recaros. You can see a little bit of my personal collection here..

Awesome stuff Ron. I have everything I need for the seats (Trim pieces webbing etc) just need the upholstery and to fix up the foam somehow. Probably going to go with SVO material from SMS to match factory SVO seats.

    Where are you located?

Which kinda makes sense since the 80 Tbirds and Cougar XR-7's were offered with Recaros as an option.

Regardless, I don't see many "pleats or humps" in those seats, I see one at the top, and that's it.

For reference, here are the stock Recaro seats from my old 80 XR-7

BTW Ron, I have always oggled those "tangerine" C's. I was on the lookout for a set of seats with that center material when I was looking for seats for my '83.

WOW that must be super rare as I have never seen a T-Bird or Cougar built with Recaros from the factory... Now I have to look through my sales brochure's to see if there is any pics of them in there

These Recaros seem to be like the '82

They're shown in both my '80 Tbird and Cougar XR-7 brochures, as well as the old C&D (?) article on the '80 Silver Anny Tbird.

That's why I bought the first XR-7...it had Recaros, and I knew it was a rare find. My second does not, but I've found a console, and I have a set of old (netted headrest) Recaros to redo...

How much of it would you need? I still have some here, its just a crappy reproduction material that i wasnt really thrilled with so i never ended up ordering more. I can get a quality reproduction but its something like 130 a yard.

I would just need enough to do the inserts on a pair of seats.

Send me a message or email with more info (to keep the "selling" off the regular forums).

I have Ron's straps in my recaros, and they made a world of difference. However, they were a bit of a pain to install on a seat that I did not want to dissamble. After I was done, the end result was well worth the small donation of skin.

I though that you were the same as www.2002parts.com. in Bonita CA. My Mistake. Either way, the straps make a huge difference in the way the seats sit.

No. All the seat pans and backs are blasted, straightened, welded, painted and ready to go. I have to dig up the pics though...just been lazy and busy! lol.
