In Wisconsin, any car 40+ can apply for "Antique" plates.

Kind of depressing in a way.

My two daily drivers are: '78 Fairmont (28 years young) and '73 Ford LNB (33 years old).
No airbags;no GPS;computers and associated junk; no power windows or mirrors or other junk........not even a third brake light.
No car payments.......no need for anything except liability insurance.....compensates somewhat for the price of gas these days

40yo an antique? Depressing indeed. My 41st birthday is a week from tomorrow. Maybe I should slap one of those on my back for good measure!

As any good mechanic knows, "lefty loosey, tighty-whitey". Unless it's an old Mopar, in which case the lugs nuts are reversed on... one of the sides... uhh

Ha, ha! I found that out the HARD way. My first car was a 1969 Dodge Charger. I drove it during 1985 when I was 17. Anyway, one day on the way home from school, I had a blowout on the highway while passing a guy who wouldn't get out of the way. Being the young punk that I was, I passed him on the right, flipped him off as I went by and promptly got the blowout. As I pulled into the breakdown lane, I saw him flip me off. I tried for over half an hour to get each lug nut off. They wouldn't budge. A guy I knew (not really a friend) stopped and gave me a ride home, where I called a tow truck to have it towed to the local gas station. Once there, the mechanic couldn't get the wheel off either. After an hour of waiting, a customer came in and told both of us that we were doing it backwards. I finally got the new tire on and was on my way.

With my car, it's the rear window defroster that amazes.

Howabout a 48 year old car with an electronic shifting push button transmission? THAT floors people who don't know about the Edsel.
