need to find keys for my T-Tops..

need a set of keys for the t-tops in my 83 and my 85...
here are the #'s off the locks..
85 = 238
83 = 268
if anyone knows where i can get new ones cut..
any information about them would be helpful..
already tried the local ford dealership they threw out all theirs..

I just picked up another set of T-top glass, this time with locks and keys. I think they are #267, but I'll verify when I get home.

I also have a couple of sets of glass with locks without keys. I should check them too and maybe find a match here.

cool idea registry for keys. i need to make a copy of mine since my other set of complete keys was stolen at work ant i only have one original set left.. sucks if any body has my number and needs a copy let me know my dad cuts keys.. thanx.

I've been itching to ask everybody to send me a copy of theirs, since so many "Does anybody have T-top key#___" topics have been popping up lately. I just don't know how many people would be receptive to the idea of sending a key to their glass panel locks to some stranger on the Internet.

It would be only so we'd have a repository of keys available for people whom don't have theirs and need them, not for me to steal somebody's glass panels.

What do you all think? Who's in?

If i find any keys, i'd be happy to send the duplicates out to whoever wanted to keep a "Key store" for T-Tops..
as long as their made available to anyone here who request them..
obviously a fee would have to be implimented.. unless theres someone who would like to donate time and keys to keep the effort alive...

Can a locksmith cut the keys if he has that number and no blank?

What do they need? Maybe if somebody scrounges up the correct docs, we could have a copy on file to hand a locksmith. Or is that not possible?

I have no problem keeping a repository and making them available to whomever needs them. I would not just hand them out like free candy to whomever requests them though. They'd have to provide some sort of proof of ownership of the vehicle with the panels locks to get a copy. And yes, I'd charge for the key(s) but only what it would cost to cut them and the postage to send it. It wouldn't be a profit thing for me.

will gladly send a copy of mine. will make a new copy for me and will send mine no problem if fox chassis wants to start one. i would hate to loose another one and have no way to unlock mine. that would suck..

I wondered the same thing, but in reality, what is the lock for? I mean it is on the inside of the car. I personally have 2 sets of keys and also 2 sets of tops without keys. I can't really see anyone stealing just the tops. In reality i never lock mine. I sure would like to have the other keys too though.

I am guessing the lock is so nobody gets "curious" and pulls the handle while you are driving. My buddy had some idiot in his Z28 that pulled the handle. Bye bye t-top!!

The Key # in my '84 is 279. I think the registry is a great idea although with some reservations. I've never had t-tops stolen but have known others that have had just that happen.

The numbers I compiled on the first page were all from public topics. You all volunteered that information. Any one, member or not, can search for them just as I did. If you don't want yours made public, edit your post. I'll be glad to remove your name and or number from my post(s). I have the same list in my saved messages.

Now if we want to hide or edit all such topics and suggest that in the future nobody volunteer that information for public view, we can do that.

Not really. Just that instead of posting what lock # you have directly... send the info to Foxchassis. He can keep a list of known locks #s. But not put the names of who has them.
