Default '79 Indy pace car Arizona edition???

I was talking with someone the other day who was telling me that years ago he had an opportunity to buy a '79 Indy Pace car Arizona edition. Apparantly by what I was told the only difference between this supposed Arizona edition and a regular pace car was that it was painted black from the side-stripes up. Now normally I would think this guy was FOS but the funny thing is that years ago I remember seeing a pace car that was painted this way and I thought it was strange. I did a search on it but didnt have any luck. I'm not even sure its called an Arizona edition if it even exists at all.

Anyone ever seen one similar to what I describe or heard of it?

Well, I'm in Arizona and haven't seen nor heard of one. Doesn't mean it doesn't exist, but...um...there are some unusual stories that get created one way or another over the years.

Here's a crappy Photoshop I did. Is this what you're thinking of?

Yes I saw one just like that except the decals were applied over the black. I dont know if it is called an arizona edition or what but its driving me nuts that he mentioned a car like that and I happened to see one that way a few years ago.

Probably a dealership in Arizona that offered a "special" paintjob for Pace Cars. Similar to how the High Country Special and California Special Mustangs were made.

I think it would look good, personally. If anyone has even a crappy picture of a real one, please post it up.
