Yes, it had gone away and I found it again and stickified it quite some time ago.

Look along the top front portion of the part in front of the radiator painted body color. Somewhere along it there should be a metal tag embossed with a bunch of numbers and codes. It may me kind of bent up and hidden in a corner. It should look something like these:

The second picture is actually the back side of the tag with the photo fliped 180 degrees. The radiator is out and I couldn't get the camera in the front to take a picture, but I could in the back.

    Here's anothe bit of info.

On my '85 GS doortag the A/C section is the same as the TAPE section on the '86s. On a Mustang GT it would indicate the presence of the hood decal or decal delete.

Looking at the '85 Dealer Ordering Guide attached below, it indicates the pinstripe color of Light Canyon Red on my Sand Beige GS. In this example it doesn't seem to apply to the "5.0L". Start bugging negusm to see if he has the Dealer Ordering Guide for the '86s so you can find out what the 2 indicates on your door tag in the TAPE section.

Also, is the second "2" you listed supposed to be a "Z"?

'85 Mustang GT doortag This car has the hood decal.

'86 Mustang GT doortag The hood on this car was replaced with a non-decal hood, but the 2 indicates it should have a hood decal.

Here is the 1986 one....no "2" in the chart.

I'd like to see a picture of the door tag.

I would like to see the VC Label too.

Some of what was provided from the VC Label was out of order, and I had to rearrange some codes in order to decode them.
