Cant be, 84 Turbo 2.3's and CFI 5.0's were the first use of the EEC IV. That would be Thick Film Ignition or the TFI. Durasparks last hoorah was for the 4V 5.0 in 84 and 85(?) (help here 85 owners)

indeed, the '85 GT 5-speed was the swan song for both the duraspark module and the carb.

Thats what I thought until I saw a few SVO engine bay pics with Durakspark boxes. I'm just as confused as the rest of the class.

That was actually the 84 -85.5 boost control solinoid. Only found on SVO's as the GT's and TC's could not switch boost levels.

I am curious on what the box is too. I cant think of anything that would be over there.

Of course, it could have gotten the SVO BSC as a mod at some point. Look on the front of the turbo and see if it has just one hose going to the wastegate, or if it has the "T" that goes to the wastegate and the solinoid.

    Default ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!

We spent the better part of the morning getting her to run, after fixing the rotted wiring (temporary) and replacing the mod and stator it popped to life on its first crank.

My wife was in the cockpit and I was under the hood. Upon ignition, about two of the most p.o.'d mice i had ever seen came running out on the turbo-charger inlet pipe.

My wife took it around the block and I followed but, she would not take it over about 30. She said it was all over the place. I went next:

I went to WOT and damn near yawed it into a tree! The car pitches wildly left then right almost oposite the steering input. I would say the ball joints or inner-tie rod ends are shot, no biggy.

Anyway, missing the gauge cluster but, having a boost gauge I tried another pass, she spools up nice pushes almost 6 psi without pinging (not bad for Sharpie marker timing) and the powertrain, clutch anf gearbox all work pretty well. This thing is a perfect resto-canidate.

We spent the rest of the day cleaning it and of course, had to do the obligatory twin GT-350 photo shoot. My 5.0 about told me to pound salt as it did not want want to be awoken from hibernation but, a little Ether and voila here they are: This is going to be a great project

Man all this efi turbo talk here lately has me REALLY wanting to try one out,.....too bad they don't exist in my area. Though honestly I know of a 86 SVO that's rotting to death (owner refuses to sell it, nothing was wrong with it when parked, just too old to drive it, too stubborn to sell it) and I've seen a GT 350 vert lately that I think is turbo (small exhaust) just not sure, supposedly was just repoed through bankruptcy....looked pretty run down though

They have the same exhaust. It should have the hood scoop if it is turbo.

aftermarket hood, and the exhaust was new, single turn down, looked like what came stock "regular" on 4cylinder cars. I can see no reason to put such a small exhaust on a 5.0, thus my assumption.

All the Anny cars had the single exhaust with the split chrome tip, just like all of the other 82-84 GTs had.

Seeing these two make me wish I still had the Anny I bought from a junkyard, but it was too far gone to save, though I did try.

    Busted!

We used Wesley's Bleach-White to get the Mold off everything and I just could not stand looking at those sad spots all over the hood.

I had a small can of some 9L duplicolor so, what they heck go to town.

Really, the Turbo cars are rare in ANY area. The only time I ever see other ones is a Gators house or at Carlisle.

Yeah, its going to be a rotisserie car for sure.

The interior is gutted and the rust is worse than we thought. Around the spare tire well it also shows pretty bad cancer where the pan is joined. I allready bought the floors (we knew that was coming). My barn/shop is getting the new and repaired concrete floors soon. As soon as that is done, it gets stripped to parade rest.

In retrospect if this car was not as significant to Fox history as it is, it would be a parts car for my 5.0 Anny.

Wow she's in pretty rough shape. I thought my '82 was bad once I got into it but yours is much worse. Once you peel up the sound deadening stuff you are going to find much more rust.

I have a solid trunk pan that was left from the donor car that I cut the floor pan from. Its yours if you want to come get it. I was just going to toss it.

If it were my project, I would strip it to the bare shell, then have it media blasted inside and out, and then work from there.

Too rare of a car not to do it up right.
